Killing Baby Hitler by Tantroo

So this recent idea is proposed on twitter about, "If you can go back and kill baby Hitler would you do it?"

Now there is the premise of the question and there is the emotional intent of the question.

In essence the question is thought of to many as "if you could stop the death of millions by killing the man responsible for it would you?"

Now obviously if things were that simple than the answer is obviously yes. But here is the thing people need to realize is that one person cannot cause such a systemic failure of humanity. Indeed the most haunting thing about World War 2 is how easily the entire world went at each other throats.

So then the question becomes "Would killing baby Hitler have prevented such a thing?" and the sad answer to that question is, probably not.

The environment of economic depression, of hopelessness, lead people to become angry, to shake their hands toward the sky in rage, to look for someone to blame. And of course, if you're the leader of the people, you don't want people shaking their hands at you. So you'll find someone else to point at. The Jews, the gays, all "the the"s. They're at fault for your woe, they're the ones taking all the resources you are owed.

In the end, if Hitler were not there, do we really believe whatever politician were in charge would not have eventually used the same smoke and mirrors that lead to the holocaust? In my mind, I cannot say for certain.

So in essence. Would killing baby Hitler stop the slaughtering of millions. Or would it just be one additional baby killed, and the real monster within humanity would remain un-repentant until the inevitable war made them afraid of themselves with a fearsome fireball?
