Print Services Q, and 'So Much To Do' Rant by LeccathuFurvicael

I'll stick the nitty gritty questions here for people to answer if they want:

What online services do you see being the most successful for selling prints? A unique store on Storenvy? Etsy? DeviantART? EBay, even? Personal accounts and testimony are ALWAYS appreciated. <3

I have several prints of various paintings left over from my exhibition at RAW, and sadly they were printed with high quality giclee paper and at 12 inches at their shortest sides, and as such cost $20 a pop to print. So, these prints aren't cheap if I want to sell them with any net income, but I will be uploading an image advertisement for them all the same if anyone wants limited edition large prints. I'll also be discounting them slightly as they all printed out stupidly dark, and 'Aggressor' especially took a beating value-wise. I plan to offer all the prints for sale at $30 each, plus shipping costs. I'll have to send them in tubes, since they're so damn big.

Ugh.... there's just so much to do if I want to start maintaining a revenue stream that isn't from purely original content. My lack of momentum really impairs my ability to net new audience members who may buy prints, both 2D and 3D, and I need to find a way to sell those prints. I've got a small number of 3D prints available on Shapeways, but their prices are so exorbitant that most people won't even look twice, nevermind the fact that people don't seem to be interested in the prints themselves. I'm hoping that my bear and bull print, 'Dueling Markets', may net some interest from the stock market fanatics, but it needs more advertising to do that.

I wish I could hire a manager to keep my work in the light of the public eye, manage my print libraries, and apply my work to local exhibitions. My lack of energy in doing my own job is a struggle enough - I'm not very business-minded, but it is what is required to net some extra income.

Feeling pretty darn unmotivated right now to work on art, but also see how much of a hill I have to start climbing again to keep up the inertia of selling work. I need to get back to work on more scientific images, dammit!

I think your print question would be better heard on A_B over on LiveJournal as an advice request post c:

Ah, thank you! I didn't think LJ still was even popular. XP

I know people tend to use their own websites to sell prints sometimes, otherwise kind of just sticking them everywhere is about the best you can do, or just advertising them here too.

Puuh selling and shipping prints all on your own can become quite some work.
I don't know if it might not be easiert to let this do someone else or maybe just offering it on conventions.
Good luck with selling them. :)

Thanks! I appreciate it. : ) I've only got 5 of each print available, so there aren't that many, and no one has purchased any yet, so I think I'll do alright for the time being. Cheers! : )
