Commission Update: Raised Prices by Spiderdragon

http://dragonstormstudio.com/commissions/

Hello folks!

The matter of commission pricing has been a tough one. It's so easy to fall into the trap of "What if it's too much, is my art really worth it?" and to simply price low.

However, I'll be honest, it takes me a while to draw anything. Anyone who has ever seen me add meticulous detail to a colour pencil drawing knows this very well. I'm getting faster, but I can't cut corners when I draw, or the quality will suffer. But I've always been nervous to raise prices, cause I've never felt my art to be worth it. But after sending some art to the US today, I realized that my client base is global. I'm on contract, and I'm heading to university again, off of co-op. I have so many people following my work on here, Deviantart, Furaffinity...and I'm so grateful for that. Grateful that you enjoy what I create. Every favourite and comment is a warm fuzzy in my belly and an honour.

That being said, I can't afford to price low anymore. It's not just confidence in ability, it's also that I'm chopping away at my school debt, among other expenses, and the amount of time and health I pour into my art (passions, am I right?) versus my payback is disproportionate. I guess it's also that they're all original pieces, traditionally hand drawn so there will never be another of its like available to own.

So I've raised my prices significantly.

The client will get a package containing the high res file and a smaller version, on top of the original artwork if shipping costs are paid for.

Thank you for your understanding, I hope this decision makes sense.

Looking over the price list you have now, I'd say your prices are extremely fair for the time and creativity someone has to put in to make these pieces. Nothing but a thumbs up for this decision! No need for an artist to work for peanuts.
