Stop Using This Phrase. Please? by Rezorian

Alright people, I was hoping we, as a society, as a people, [Other Dramatic Sounding Phrases] were past using these words, but...STOP SAYING THIS:

"If You Can't Handle Me At My Worst, Then You Don't Deserve Me At My Best"

Stop. Just...just stop. Maybe you use it because you're young and you think it makes you sound cool or strong, I don't know, but please stop saying this. PLEASE.

You know why? To me and countless other people, you aren't sending the message you think you are. Sure, in your head it probably sounds like you're saying to the world that you are who you are and you're taking a stand or something, but I'm going to let you in on a secret...

What you actually sound like is a self-absorbed idiot who would rather flaunt your known character flaws like some kind of badge of honor rather than, oh, I don't know, try and become a better person.

We could debate who spoke the phrase first for a while, but it all boils down to what I said above: The only thing you're really saying is that you have problems that you would rather we just kind of deal with than you actually try to fix. It's the laziness gambit. After all, why try and persevere and change those flaws when you can just throw those errors in our faces and try to pass it off as a personality? Like I said: Laziness.

Oh and, glass houses and such, but at least I can admit my flaws and that I'm trying to change them rather than hiding behind an "edgy" phrase (possibly) spoken by someone who was dead before she even reached her forties.

Seriously, you sound pathetic when you use that phrase. Had my years of terrible jobs not destroyed my soul already, I'd say that every time I hear someone speak that phrase, I die a little inside. I mean, maybe it dies twice? Like Re-Die or something?

Double Die?

Death Squared?

You get what I'm saying here: You sound like tools. Stop it.

I've really only heard people say this with regards to relationships (which is more about compatabillity than "deal with it"). People using a phrase like that in general public? wtf? Yeah, you sound like a self absorbed douche.

I should also clarify, that I don't really agree with the phrase even when applied to relationships, as it does tend to imply an unwillingness to grow as a person....

It's odd you mention it for relationships because I've never heard the phrase used that way. Not saying you're lying of course, it's just that I always hear the "deal with it" angle like you mentioned. Consider the scene though: You're sitting a restaurant and you hear a woman talking to her friend and they say that phrase, indignantly and loudly for all to hear, a table or two away. It's happened to me...multiple times. Actually, let me amend that scene - You also hear my rage building, ever so slowly, as I try to hide it behind my menu.

The genders change of course, arrogance knowing no set sex after all, but it does happen out in the regular old world. This, uh, this reply kind of turned into a tangent. Sorry about that. Thanks for taking the time to read (and comment)!

Yeah, overhearing that would grate on me as much as the unmistakable cries and screams of an angry baby.

YOU LAUGH AT ME BECAUSE I'M DIFFERENT

I LAUGH AT YOU BECAUSE YOU'RE ALL THE SAME................
