[Leaving notice!] > THIS ACCOUNT WILL BE LURKING ONLY!!! < [Leaving notice!] by CrescoTheSquirrel

Just a notice for the people who came to follow me for my art, it appears that Weasyl is just as toxic- if not: even MORE toxic than Furaffinity and that's laughable when you think that Weasyl started as a 'better alternative' to Furaffinity. (according to the creators of course)
Naturally, I've already told everyone this the moment I first saw their TOS-O-FAIL but then again who ever listens to me, right?

Anyways, Weasyl will never change its ways and naturally they are proud of that, but this comes as no surprise from people who project their own biases on others and who love to force others how to play in their 'perfectly designed' orwellian little lion den. I feel safer on Furaffinity knowing that I can at least express myself without being shunned for 'what' I draw and 'how' I draw it. Be wise and get an account on https://Inkbunny.net or https://SoFurry.com today and stand for your rights as a (furry) artist.

I will keep this account for lurking only, I'm not going to upload any more works that could get the 'weasels' a run for their money. (read: a permanent ban)
I will also remove all of my work to give Weasyl no further reasons to hound (or ban) me, so I'm deeply sorry to anyone who have favourited my submissions.

For those interested in my works you will still be able to find all of them (if not even more) at the following locations:

I am truly and most sincerely sorry for anyone who followed and favourited my artwork on here but it appears that Weasyl shows no intererests for people they do not deem worthy. At this point I'd rather stay on a site like Furaffinity rather than a site that is ran by horrible people who are out to get me.

Again, my deepest apologies to everyone.

What exactly is the problem if I may ask?

Their acceptable upload policy, I can't even upload censored pictures that wouldn't be a single problem on FA.
And if I cannot upload what I draw on this site then this site as an art place is useless to me.

I've also heard from other people that left that Weasyl is basically FA with less traffic and that it only focuses on popu-furs and I can safely say with 100% certainty that both statements are true.

So I guess I simply came here with the wrong amounth of followers and without the proper bag of money for these aptly named 'weasels'.
Sadly for the Weasyl guys: I draw for myself, I draw for fun and that is obviously not something they can appreciate.

      Again, sorry for the trouble.

What do you mean this is a place for popu-furs? You mean that you're not getting many comments and faves here? Well join the club I guess - even the most popular people I follow regularly get few/no comments on their submissions. Porn seems to be the best way to get comments. The biggest problem I see is that there are legitimately really good artists on here who have surprisingly few watchers. Like, less than me. I can't say I don't see these same problems on every other furry site, though. Shit, I thought Inkbunny would love my style, but even HERE I get like 4x as much attention.

The AUP not allowing censored images that would contain stuff that's not allowed is a stupid rule, I agree. But what isn't allowed?

And what's all that about bags of money? I don't see anything for sale here on Weasyl.

The whole 'forcing people to play in their perfectly designed little lion's den' thing - I'm gonna assume you're talking about the thumbnails. Honestly? There's only one site that has better thumbnails than Weasyl at this point, and it's Deviantart, because they let you choose how you want them displayed. I LOVE how big the previews are here now, and the only legitimate issue I have with it is how they don't give people options to align the grid or change preview sizes. (which I hope will come in the future) Inkbunny is... okay, but their "large" previews are much too small for my taste. And Furaffinity is horrible, slightly less than Weasyl used to be, because they provide no options at all and their images are tiny. The only reason that site is even usable is because it's the only furry site I use that works with Chrome extensions that let you preview an image in full by hovering over it.

Yeah, I dunno. I don't really agree with most of the reasons you give for leaving. But if the AUP thing is hurting you, there's really no way around it. An art site can't expect you to change what you draw to fit its rules. So I wouldn't blame you for leaving on that reason alone.

Forget about the bags of money and the popu-furs, I kind of posted that while being rather pissy with Weasyl, so I kind of 'parroted' what other people were saying of the place. I know how that makes me look and I feel incredibly stupid and deeply ashamed of that.

That being said, I won't deny that the 'radio silence' was part of the reason why I left and my latest suspension was basically the desicion-maker. On Inkbunny I get a lot of traffic, while here on Weasyl I could jump for joy when more than 5 people merely 'viewed' my submissions. I'm not going to say that I "don't care about favourites and comments" because that'd be an outright lie; of course I want others to see my work, to know what people think of it and if people like it or not and what they'd like to see more of and so does everyone else who uploads their stuff online. Sure, I draw mostly for myself but a person puts a work up on the world wide web because they want others to see it, without that aspect I could as easily have made a pic and pin it on my bedroom wall or place it inside of a drawer, same thing really. I don't want to sound like an ass here, I just don't know of a better way to put this.

I'm happy that you were able to create a following for yourself here that made the move from FA to here that much easier, so I don't blame you for being bitter towards me and I can totally understand that you disagree on such vague points, I respect your opinion, it is a personal conflict I'm having after all.

As for the AUP, I can understand that they have the right to remove my work when it violates their TOS and even though I censored and marked the image as mature, I can still understand why they had removed it, I don't agree with it but I can still understand it. Still, suspending me for a week and then threatening to suspend me indefinitely when they find another possible offense? That takes the cake for me in my personal opinion, they could've simply removed the pic and given me a warning, so I took the most logical action and left. Nothing gained, nothing lost as people tend to say.

And I wasn't talking about the thumbnails, I don't care for them anyway and from what I can see the thumbnails are great.
When I was talking about 'their perfectly designed little lion den' I was talking about Weasyl as a site and organisation overall but again, I said that when I wasn't thinking straight.
What it all boils down to is like you said: The AUP conflicts with what I draw, thus there is nothing left for me to do here.

I don't blame Weasyl, they have to do what they believe in and follow their own path, I just happen to follow a different one.

I hope this hasn't stirred up any bad blood between us, I didn't mean to sound offensive.

Naw, it's okay. ^^ If the site's not working for you, there's no reason to stay around. At least you're not leaving all the real art sites for Tumblr or something. I was just wondering specifically why you decided to go, since the reasons you left seemed vague.

I dunno, I've personally been disappointed with how slow development has been here. I love how easy it is to post my stuff here (it's practically automatic thanks to the Weasyl crossposter extension) even if I don't get nearly as much attention as on FA, but I do have a few features I'd like to see and I wish updates would come along faster. It feels like so long since I joined Weasyl during the closed preview, and the thumbnails seem like the only major thing that's changed in at least a year now. I'm sure they've been doing other things, but they're maybe more... 'behind the scenes'. I'd really like more transparency on what features they want to implement, what they're working on, what's higher on the list, etc. But I haven't really participated in the forums since the beginning, so for all I know they could be open about it.

In any case, I think I have you followed on IB and FA so I don't think I'll be missing much. ^^ I would love for this site to take off more, but seems like they need to fix more things if they want that to happen.
