Important Patreon pool - Charging for images by Mircea

After a bit of thinking, I decided to address this question to my watchers and especially to everyone who has pledged or plans to pledge on my Patreon, since it's something I found it fair to consult you on. Please post your opinion and vote in a comment, all replies will be read and analyzed.

As you know, I currently charge per animation or game release. I am however considering charging for still images as well. Namely 3D renders, although I might count drawn art in if I'm happy with an image's quality. Since stills are easier to produce than animations, I'm thinking of charging per a given number of images instead of just one (eg: 4 a month). Note that multiple pages in a comic would count as individual images.

First of all, I'd like to know if you agree with me charging for still renders too (and potentially drawn art). Second, I'd like to know per how many images you are okay with me charging. Two, four, six... or do you think you'd like them enough to even agree on one? Things to keep in mind before deciding:

  • Still renders as well as drawn art are much easier to produce than animations or anything interactive. But they aren't created magically either, and a good amount of effort still goes into them (post-processing, finding / making the right assets, etc). This is especially the case since I want everything I make to be detailed and of good quality, rather than simple 3D renders like most GMod stuff you see.

  • Since stills are easier than animations, I can produce content of slightly greater quality and quantity. Although an image is less interesting than an animation, I can afford much more attention to detail, as well as rendering with many more ray samples for less noise.

  • This would make more NSFW-ish content possible, in case I'll ever do that in the future. I can't make NSFW animations because I don't have where to safely host them at full quality: The only places that accept 1080p - 60FPS videos are video sharing websites like Youtube, and of course those have strict and bizarre moral codes... some artists even get in trouble for posting simple vore videos like mine (don't forget my notorious experience with Vimeo). An 1080p image however can be posted on any relevant website like Furaffinity / Inkbunny / Eka's Portal.

  • Still renders might include: Normal images, stereoscopic images, panoramic images, stereoscopic + panoramic images, ultra-short animated gif's / png's (a compromise between render and animation). This is primarily a list of things I am considering doing, and features I wish to experiment with in Blender... it's not a promise that I will do all of them, just something you can expect to see.

  • I will still NOT charge multiple times per month; If during one month I charge for a set of images, then in the same month I post more images up to the same amount, I will either not charge for the extra ones or account them for next month (I must decide when the second option is fair and doable). If I ever reach a point where I'm guaranteed to post the given image threshold every month, I might make another pool and ask about switching my Patreon to a monthly campaign... but currently that is not the case and probably won't be for a good while if ever.

If there aren't enough clear votes, I am defaulting to 4 images. The overall charge rule in this case would be "1 game release, 1 video, or 4 images". Let me know what you think in the comments please! I'll probably take a decision in a few days or weeks, depending on how clear or similar expressed opinions are.

It's been almost a week since I posted this pool. There weren't a lot of replies, but the few that were posted indicated there's no problem with me charging per images too. As such, I'll be going with my planned default: Charging once per 4 images as well, while of course being on the lookout to not charge multiple times per month.
