On Faiya! (literally) by Thea

Today is the first time in my life I've experienced potentially life uprooting circumstances...as in there's two raging forest fires 45-60 hectares large directly east and west of me and if I stick my head outside I'll have an asthma attack. One is across the straight and the other an hour's drive away, but I can't help worry some idiot is going to start a fire near my neighbourhood because it's one big wallop of dead grass (it's only July and already on the highest fire/drought warning). People keep throwing cigarette butts out of their vehicles on the highway and starting dozens of brush fires every day.

It was so eery waking up and wondering if I entered the twilight or instagram zone and kind of freaked out over the yellow photo filtered light entering my eyes. I can smell smoke inside my home, where I still haven't finished renos. It's going to suck if I need to evacuate, but if you don't hear from me for a while that's probably why. Like I'll ever get a long term uninterrupted time period to get all of my work done this year XD

Augh yeah :/ My entire building is on the look out for people being idiots because there are smokers in our building, the one next to us and theres a popular bench across the street that people go to smoke at. (someone in the next door building set on of their trees on fire in their yard, on purpose last year because they thought the best way to get rid of some bees, in the middle of dry season was to ya know. flame thrower the thing.) Surrounded by potential threats and my building has been on fire before in previous years so all the tennants that were around for that are like AFDGSFJHKJHJSFFGDJAHJSHJHAD.

So i'm just hoping. and praying. that nothing happens >. > But the smoke.. i cant even go outside. I need a mask super bad and one with eye protection because everything in my face is going haywire. sdfgshjhk.

Good luck out there D: I wish i could take a trip to someplace colder and no air smoke. blurg. This is what happens when global warming is a thing and people are idiots with fire. hides under a rock

So far after a couple days the sky is finally clearing. The BC government finally got their act together and signed a new contract for the local waterbomber that was retired last year. Even have amphibian water skimmers coming from Ontario. Better late than never I guess :/
