Telegram and Failure by Silvermane
I am now on telegram as @silvermane3 for those interested.
I don't know why I am there as no one seems to talk to me just like all the other IM programs I am on it seems just another one taking up space.
I do confess I feel like a failure. I have three to four galleries going from here to Tumblr and other sites and so far this year I've managed to get about $54 in commissions. No that's not art I've commissioned, that's money I've received FROM commissioners. Needless to say if I were to make a living off my art I'd be quite dead right now. Starving artist doesn't even cover it. I feel like such an utter failure.

People are very choosey about who they commission. I was in the same situation when I was accepting commissions. Btw, I sent you an email a week ago, did you get it?

Actually I wanted to commission people and I did end with a sour taste in my mouth. My request was placed to "never do it list" by some artists; others rejected it because it was NOT PORN; other only do it if you win a silly raffle/lotto; or the ones that are willing to do draw in some Sonic/Childplay style that i don't like to have (for that I draw the image myself). So unless you become popular drawing porn you won't be made a lot orf money really.

I really have a hard time believing that all the money in the furry fandom goes totally to porn or that an artist must draw totally porn in order to get money. I am sure it helps to be certain and no denying it would but equally I am sure that people can do it too.

Of course no but for these type of art you need to draw minimum like comic artist, have a punch style and do digital as well traditional. Also you need luck for get the correct people that can recommend you to friends.

Any tales of "recovery" you have heard about since 2008 are about as real as the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny. Most people I know are barely getting by or falling further into debt. I haven't so much as commissioned anyone for anything since 2009, the last year I had a full time job. With yet another trade agreement on the horizon, more jobs will be leaving the country. The future of America's economy is bleak.
