Talking on the net by Menagerie

So this summer I should have the one class that shouldn't tax me so much I've got to go as dormant as I have been of late. So I'm reevaluating how I talk to and interact with other people, the vast bulk of which are the furry crowd, online. I got very spoiled by having single point places where everyone interacts all that they do, and the the IM system when you wanted to be more personable or private. That system worked pretty well for me for both introducing and getting to know a group of furs, and having new folks approach me. I'm such a terrible ice breaker I can never shake that feeling that I'm intruding on people I haven't spoken to in a while when I ping their IMs. Especially nowadays where IMing is done on the phones and they could be at work, or shopping, or whatever.

Now I think the single point site is about to go away. I personally think FA's growing pains are going to be to much for it and it's going to fragment. I've been starting to poke a few furs twitter feeds and tumbler blogs and see them much more active there than they ever are here. Also since a lot of times I RP, when I am active, I am sort of looking for a space to do that in as well. So I'm not just pestering people on their IMs.

Right now I've got three IMs, I just added Skype a couple of months ago, here, FA, and an old LJ account that pretty much now just watches two other people.

I don't think I could handle twitter. I think it would just overwhelm me. Tumblr I haven't quite figured out yet. It seems to be very customizable because so many tumblr blogs (pages?) seem to not be like each other at all. Also I don't care much for it as a gallery. It's hard to navigate.

I've recently learned that f-list has chatrooms and RPing areas and stuff. Does anybody use that? I'm getting a little curious about it. Although someone has already tagged my usual name.

Any other big space that a lot of furs with similar interests to what's going on in my gallery hang out at? Or have we all pretty much gone to IMs for most everything?
