Today marks the 2nd anniversary of the Boston Marathon Bombing. This was a very tragic day in history, not just locally, but globally. Regardless of the Tsarnaev brothers' intentions on why they placed a backpack with a bomb in it at an event with many innocent people attending, it was the wrong decision to what these two were trying to accomplish. I wish for events like this not to happen. I wish for a world of peace. I wish no one would commit actions like these. And I will keep wishing for global peace until we receive it.
However, even in the most tragic of times, our spirits cannot be broken. In the aftermath of this dreadful act of terror, people from around the world brought support to the city of Boston, the bombing victims, and to the families and friends of these victims. It was a great healing process from all those who supported Boston in this heartbreaking and tragic event. I, for one, am grateful for those who aided and supported us in this horrific event. I am especially grateful for the Boston and Watertown Police for their bravery and heroism in their effort to capture Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, and bring peace back to the area.
We stand together as one.

I remember two guys I know were headed for Hawaii the week of the bombing. They were scared to death during that week up until they left Boston. On the day of the manhunt, I was supposed to head over to Stop & Shop to pick up my S&S gear, learn my punch-in code, etc. (I was just hired at the time.) But I had to wait until the next day after the lockdown ended to do that.

It was surreal for this country "hick" to see all the media trucks parked in the hospital district the weekend after the event. My mother was at Brigham & Woman's for heart surgery at the time. Younger (middle) bro and our father were down there starting two days after the bombing with her. The TV in their hotel room didn't work, so they didn't know about the manhunt the day it had occurred and couldn't believe their luck at finding a parking space on a side street near the hospital. Reality struck them when they encountered the police guarding the hospital with automatic rifles. I was suppose to relieve them the day of the manhunt. That got postponed a day for obvious reasons.
