FWA 2015 Con Report (tl;dr- 5-Star Experience!) by Nepenthe

Yesterday was probably the hardest I've ever "con'd" so to speak. I woke up at 5 in the morning to get our suits back up to shape after having them all rained on. All parts were washed and mostly dried in less than 10 hours, so that's a feat. We had to pick up a friend from overnight, then rush back to my house to finish another friend's fursuit head, as in completely taped it, furred it up, lined the mouth, did eyes and a tongue in around three hours. We missed the parade as a result and were feeling pretty bummed, but we made up for it.

We got registered, and a Deadpool, a King Julian, and a Pink Panther were together. The Deadpool played "Apple Bottom Jeans." Hate the song, but I danced to cuz why not? After that we went into the fursuit lounge and immediately met Howee Husky and Doryuu, who said he saw me and liked my dancing (which means I can die happily cuz he's one of my favorite dancer furs). We also met an older fur named Acai. Really cool dude with an amazing MFY premade (the purple, white, and blue surprise AWD), who has to sneak out to cons to avoid the judgement of his family. xP We promised not to tell.

Other fursuit notables include me and a friend chasing and cornering Dorito. Never got to hug him, but I think we took off a little bit of his attitude! I also got to interact with Telephone for a quick second and even grabbed her tail. She seemed a bit displeased. xD

I also met Alec once again, who I first chatted with at Anthrocon, and a friend who was using his suit, and we talked con horror stories. I talked more with Valentine, a dancer fur who I picked up at the airport along with my brother, and we hashed each other out our views on certain topics. He's a sharp dude! Then I chatted up Apollo Husky, ever-handsome Mangusu, JD Puppy/Buddy during practice, and Boost. <3 I met Brassica the Irish Setter who's on point with his character: perfect accent, clothing, and everything. I also saw Autumnfallings' Shiba Inu puppy suit and Phoenixwolf's Spooks suit, both of which were kind enough to let me inspect their heads up close (my god, the craftsmanship).

But the greatest spontaneous moment was finally getting to see Torch the Angel Dragon who's owned by Humphrey, a friend I met back at my first Anthrocon. However, he himself was not wearing Torch at the time, and he just popped up in front of me to say "hi! 8D" I left quietly and slowly, which got a lot of laughs! Also saw him in the dance comp last night, and he did great!

Speaking of which, everyone was on point with their routines! However, there was a crapload of technical difficulties. The opening video didn't play through the first time, Dalmy's routine had to be postponed because the music file was playing in a corrupted manner, and Atsu Fawx actually had his music interrupted mid-routine, forcing him to go twice. I felt so bad for him, because he had already lost a lot of energy and the surprise factor. Several times we began chanting "You f***ed up!"

But, the dancers did the best they could and it was a great show because of them. I partied pretty hard during the whole thing because, hey, lots of trap, dubstep, and classic hip-hop was on display. And during the intermission where the judges were calculating scores, one of the MCs told everyone in suit to get up on the dance floor and entertain the crowd, so yay, more dancing for me! And not just dancing, but dancing in a huge crowd with some my favorite dancers and friends. Definitely a highlight. <3

Stringing along all of that was a lot of photo ops, random character acting and romping around, and people complimenting our own suits. I think the most flattering compliment I got was that my refurbished head looks like an early More Fur Less suit, which is banaynays cuz I love them so much. Clearly I'm doing something right!

The final event for me was walking to Waffle House, and all of the craziness walking around in suit contains. More photo ops, a few jerks making fun of us, some people asking us questions about Furry, some random drunk women twerking in the street and parking lot to Nicki Minaj, and then the hullabaloo of happening upon an establishment without the customers and employees expecting it. Everyone loved it. <3

Also, there was the gravitational fur field. Basically a fur pile but without the rib-crushing. Just...a line of suiters laying on the ground.... just cuz.

So yeah, I had fun! xDD

If I missed anyone I had interactions with, just know that every single moment I spent with you playing around was valuable. I've been needing time to get away from some things, and anyone who took the time to talk to me has my undying gratitude. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, and I hope to see all of you again- and more- next year! <3
