Tamers is probably the best season of Digimon in terms of story and character development. One character that seemed to capture the hearts and minds of furries is Renamon. It's no wonder because not only is she a badass fighter, she also has a interesting personality and is in a unique relationship with her human partner Rika that evolves throughout the season. In fact, this Kitsune-like digimon was partially an inspiration for my own Kitsune character, Takama.

However, there is one thing that really bugs me. In most fanart I have seen of Renamon, the artists give her boobs. Like most oversexualization of female characters from children's shows, I find this unnecessary. The reason I find this one more annoying than other example is that it doesn't even make sense in terms of the show.

In the episode where the Tamers reveal their Digimon to their families before heading off into the Digital World to rescue Calumon (gotta love cartoons where the parents are actual characters), Renamon states that Digimon don't actually have genders (I only use the pronoun "she" for Renamon because of her feminine looks and voice). This is in the original Japanese and the dub. In fact, I remember when the episode aired and line stuck out to me the most. To quote JesuOtaku: "Sorry, furries. Your goddess is barren." And yet, artists seem to purposefully ignore this detail. Also, she is one of the most mature acting Digimon of the franchise, acting as a surrogate mother to some of the characters at times. Putting her in promiscuous poses and activities is not true to her character.

All of that being said, there are bright spots. Once in a while, I do see great fanart that actually respect Renamon as a character and give her a flat but fluffy chest. I usually thank these artists in the comments and they often share similar views to mine.

In the end, Renamon is a great character and I think she deserves better.
