As a number of you have seen (and taken the opportunity to follow me on Weasyl now, instead) I've stopped using Furaffinity as a site. I will still poke my head in now and then to check notes and news of some friends, but eventually I will phase it out completely.

Several of you have asked me why; the reason is extremely simple: IMVU.

I'm not even concerned at this moment about the specific changes in terms and conditions attached to this takeover (I'd rather call it a sell-out, instead, actually), but rather the principle behind supporting any company that upholds such a terrible standard and proves time and again that they can't be bothered to improve or change their ways.
There are a lot of potential futures for FA under the IMVU umbrella, ranging from enforced account consolidation to downright censorship and needing to pay for access to adult material, and everything in between, and none of the possibilities are positive from my standpoint.

That's even besides the fact that I don't want to support them out of principle.

FA staff has also not been transparent about this, which makes it even more dicey: The takeover was apparently 2 months ago and nobody informed the community until now. There has been a vague statement about FA getting access to IMVU infrastructure to improve the site. No mention of what is on the other side of the equal sign there. IMVU doesn't do charity - they are a greedy bunch who also have no qualms randomly and without reason removing/freezing accounts and changing their ToS at a whim.

That's pretty much all I wanted to say for now. Carry on, feel free to ignore.
