A bad penny always turns up. by Thaily

I hadn't expected him to, but I suppose I should have.
This is funny to me, in a mind boggling "y u do dis?" sort of way.

In 2011 someone contacted me for commissions and after 2 hours of talking, decided to get 4 commissions of his elf character; they totaled €120,-.
Shortly after he sent me the description of the character, he said payment would be a bit delayed. I said that was okay and didn't hear from him again until he asked if he could see some sketches. I told him I wasn't going to start until after he sent payment, and then I didn't hear from him again.

A year later I opened for Itty Bitty commissions, which are €5,- a piece. The name rang a bell, so I checked my logs and realized who it was. I verified his identity and told him that since he didn't either pay or let me know he had to cancel the commissions, that I wasn't interested in negotiating new commissions with him. (I felt very strongly that, with the €120,- transaction, he had no intention of ever paying and that he was just after some free prelim sketches.)
His response was that "Oh well I must have forgot that then." and told me it must have been before he was kicked out of his home which he later cited was for financial reasons. He told me that if I couldn't understand his situation that I could take my attitude and find other paying customers and that I was rude for not accepting him as one. But if I wanted to give him a second chance he'd pay me extra this time.

Then he asked me for an "estimate" on €5,- commissions and that he'd have to budget them in.

Needless to say I iterated my sentiment that I was not interested in having him as a client and blocked him. His response was to go to the bulletin board where I advertised my commissions and call me names. My response was to write an Artists_Beware post on Livejournal detailing the incidents so that other artists could avoid wasting their time on him.

His response this week, 3 years after, was to contact the admins and ask them to have my post edited, which included the request (and I quote) "That we somehow force you to admit this was all a 'misunderstanding'."

I was sure to add that little bit of information to my post when I updated it. He's so gross and manipulative it's hilarious.
What on Earth makes people think that this is a reasonable thing to do and that will work out in their favor?

A bad penny always turns up.

Oh, wow. I think I'll go ahead and check A_B now to make sure I don't have to deal with this person either.
PLus, asking for an "estimate" on a €5 commission? For real? :'D

Hmm .. This is why I hate that my memory is so bad from time to time.
If it is who I think it is, though ... I may have already blocked and blacklisted him, so good riddance to that.
