Laptop RIP / Reborn by chutkat

So after the GGJ, my Laptop's Hard drive and Battery decided to die.... it was really unexpected.
Commissions / Artwork will be delayed for a week while I configure windows all over again and install the drivers and programs I need to make it run like before.

It was expensive, but not as expensive as having to buy a new laptop instead xD
Which would have sucked due to the lack of spare money nowadays ;__;
WHY TAIHO (Computer's name)?!?! Why did you have to die... ;;

But yah during the past months the laptop had been lagging for stuff that didn't seem important, which was weird so I thought it needed a cleaning. It would heat up and also this weekend, created phantom files I couldn't modify / delete with my admin account.

They also didn't have a 320 GB disk (sold out while I tried to get the money to repair the laptop), so I had to buy a 500 GB one, which I am expecting to make the pc have more capacity, but at the same time be slower than the good times of my old ones....
I am not sure. Right now it's derping with the 197 windows updates that need to be installed.

D:
Anywayssss... I will see you guys once I have finished setting this up. And need to decide if I continue using my Huion tablet or I should swich again to my intuos bamboo one. Last time the Intuous had driver troubles with my hard drive, and this time if I don't get the driver from May, I might not use my Huion tablet. Or maybe both will work once I finish updating windows __

Wish me luck!

    Aw. I am sorry to hear that. I had a laptop die on my a few years back and I lost several art projects and one year of backup art projects was deleted (I never recovered the psds for that year's work). I know what a pain it is - so hopefully things will start looking up.

    I haven't heard of Huion, how does it compare to Wacom brand items?

    This year has not been kind - the oil industry is tanking and people are starting to get laid off. It's only January! I hope your year improves quickly (as I hope mine does too!)

      I was bale to get all my files, because the drive was not entirely dead and also because I keep backups at my External hard drive~

      I really like it, when I bought it I was low on money it was like $90 + shipping for a large tablet with 2048 levels of pressure. I have a friend who got the same tablet but didn't like it and got a refund.
      There are also scam stories all around the internet, but if you buy directly from them there should be no troubles: http://huiontablet.tumblr.com/post/108637250555/important#notes
      I really like my Huion because I can do different lineweights with the same brush, so I am super happy with it. There are cons, of course, like sometimes I needed to install the driver a few times trying to find one that worked. After that, it worked well all the time. xD
      They also replaced my first tablet because it came with problems, but they shipped the new one for free. I really like it, almost always much more than my wacoms, but it does feel super different than a wacom, physically and work wise.
      I plan to do a detailed review one of these days....
      I was hoping the driver would be working right now but maybe I should wait for the laptop to finish updating. xD

      "This year has not been kind - the oil industry is tanking and people are starting to get laid off. "<- I hope this goes better for you D:

    Damn! At least you didn't have to replace the whole thing.

    Good luck with the updates!

      Yeah, gladly I didn't have to, to get a decent pc (that matched this one, it would be over $1500) here

    I got an SSD instead of a hard drive. They don't heat up so bad, so they will extend the life of your computer as well as saving energy from fans running. They don't have to keep discs spinning so they draw less power and will extend your battery life. Also, they have no mechanical parts so they can last up to decades. The Samsung 850 Evo was the best value/performance I could find and it was reasonably cheap for an SSD too.

      I asked, It would had been awesone but a SSD alone was like $300+
      I didn't even have the money to repair my laptop anyways xD
      Had to put some stuff I had in pledge in order to pay ;;
