Learning to speak. by Rowedahelicon

I'm sure you all saw this!

This picture has a very strong meaning with me, it may be typical lifeless drawing like all the others I do, but this one is different to me. It was an experiment in shading, to try and blend darks and lights together to somewhat of a perfect line-less image. This image was made using a blending technique, which I altered on various parts. That's why some spots have lines, others have shadows, others are a weird mix.

Line-less art has always fascinated me, being able to perfectly convey a shape using nothing but light and shadows. And personally to me, I feel it's better at expressing emotion. I myself am a very sad person, sad in the sense of outlook on myself and the life around me. I do not hold many feelings to the world; I use art to reflect this.

I could simply say I'm sad, or I'm mad, or I'm happy but that's no fun. I'd rather be able to post an image and have people react the way they would if they came across me that way. Like if I was huddled up in a corner crying, and I drew that, they'd be sad and I'd get a nice conversation out of the whole thing.

I've never felt much of my skills towards anything before, but I feel that with this image, I'm going in the right direction. Someday, I'd love to be able to help put down on paper what actually flows through my head. So I can show people what I think about, without using words.
