    1. A poster that replies to comments is very encouraging. I also try to keep to a rule of commenting on anything I favorite, just as a matter of trying to keep community happening and knowing that feedback is cherished.

    2. Non-replying posters. Too many creepy comments flying around. There is a level of creepy I can handle before I step away.

    3. Nope.

    4. Yes, as above.

    5. Nope, we shower together. :V

    6. I LIKE YOU.

    7. DRAW MORE ARTS.

    • Link

Haha, thanks for the responses X) Yeah, I also tend to avoid commenting if there's a lot of creepy people on a submission.

What motivates you to comment on a submission?

    Questions to answer, like these.

What demotivates you to comment on a submission?

    Tons of responses.

Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?

    See above.

Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?

    Very much so.

Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?

I've never tried, so I dunno.

What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?

Ever since Planetmind, you've caused strong intrigue.

Any suggestions you want to give?

None come to mind at present.

    • Link

Hee, intrigue! I like being intriguing. Thanks for answering!

      • Link

Heh. 'We are we.' is a thing now in my headspace, so yes. Very intriguing.

    1. Questions to answer (like this!) or anything about the image that particularly sticks out to me, that I think the artist should know I appreciate (I avoid commenting on things I dislike about it, though, unless the artist has asked for critique!). Also, if the artist is a good friend, or needs support/encouragement/etc.
    2. Large groups of questions to answer (This is a marginal case) where I feel like I won't be able to answer them all adequately. Or if I feel I don't have anything constructive to say (quite often) or even if I just generally like it but don't have any specifics to mention.
    3. Depends. It can amplify the effect of things listed in 2 but if I feel like it'll be noticed anyway then no.
    4. Definitely. Replies let me know that people actually notice and read it (though if the reply is just a generic "Thanks!" given to every single person who comments, that reduces my likelihood of commenting)
    5. No more than anyone else, and less than some. Social anxiety means most everyone is intimidating to approach.
    6. You're a nice, openminded guy, and good at what you do. I am bad at putting my thoughts about people into words or this section would be more full-of-stuff.
    7. Nothing I can really think of? I would like to see you stream more but that's mostly an opinion, not something that would be necessarily good or bad for you to do.
    • Link

Awh, I'm glad you think I'm nice and openminded and all that. I would like to stream more consistently, too.

    • Link

      Also, thanks for answering!

What motivates you to comment on a submission?
I feel motivated when i like the submission or i'm curious about some detail ^^

What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
I feel demotivated when i don't like a submission, when there are too many comments, or when i don't like the author (some great artists are... not "nice" people)

Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
    As i sayd above, yes i am ^^;

Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
I certainly am, it's hard to find artists that reply to people's comments (fanboys replying in place of the artist are instead pretty common)

Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
I don't, at least, i don't know you well enough to find you eighter intimidating or not, if i like some picture of yours that i like i leave a comment and maybe a fave too ^^

What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
I dunno but you certainly seem like an "available" person ready to do anything you can for those following your works and commisioning too considering you post many different things ^^

Any suggestions you want to give?
Not really, i think you're as pawesome as you are ^^

    • Link

I try to reply to all my comments on WZL (and am starting to do so again on THAT OTHER SITE, too). Thanks so much for responding!

What motivates you to comment on a submission?
If I think the person won't mind me be a little bit pervy and I want to compliment them.

What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
    I don't know.

Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
    Yeah, always.

Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
    No.

Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
No, I just don't want to seem creepy.

What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
    shrugs

Any suggestions you want to give?
    I don't know

    • Link

I don't usually mind a bit of perviness as long as it isn't directed at me personally (so like, saying 'that's hot!' or 'that character is so sexy!' is fine, but attempts to like, roleplay with me, are not). After all, I drew the damn thing! XD Thanks for answering.

1: If there's a conversation going on that I feel like I can add something to, or it's from someone who I think is talented but often underappreciated. Or, in cases like this, if the poster specifically asks for comments.

2: If it's about a topic that I am unknowledgable about or feel uncomfortable talking about. (For an example of each: I don't post on journals talking about trans issues because I know little about trans issues (being a cis man) and would rather avoid accidentally offending someone, and I don't like posting on journals talking about rape as that is an uncomfortable subject for me.)

    3: No.

    4: Very much so.

5: Haven't really tried starting a conversation with you, but I'd say I don't find you intimidating to approach, as from what little I know of you you seem friendly.

6: You seem like a cool person who genuinely cares about the feelings of those around them and seems to have their life sorted out.

7: Nothing I can think of.

Sometimes it is safer for everyone involved to avoid situations that may spark foot in mouth disease, yeah. I'm all for education, and I like when people ask questions about subjects I'm passionate about. But not everyone feels that way, so sometimes, yeah, it's safer to just read quietly.
      Thanks for answering!

What motivates you to comment on a submission?
Bad puns, internet memes, and artist commentary. Sorry, I rarely have comment on the art itself. Sometimes there is discussion going on regarding the piece or its meaning and I like to join in on that.

What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
    Negativity, bigotry, malice.

Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
    Quite the opposite!

Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
I comment when I feel I have something worth saying, I do not base my commenting habits on the activity of the artist, unless they are a friend and I am trying to goad them into a reply. ;)

Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
I do not find you intimidating. When we first started talking, I felt very at ease, and what little I know of your personal life comforts me because I feel I can relate. As for commenting on your artwork, I have anxiety and get uncomfortable trying to initiate conversation about a lot of things.

What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
It's been a long time since we've really had a heart to heart. When we met at MFF (07, 08?) I was surprised to get the opportunity to chat with you and correspond via email and LJ. You were generous in that regard, enthusiastic, you put me at ease and were not judgmental about subject matter that I enjoy but makes me uncomfortable discussing. Based on your art activity, you are a consummate and professional artist. You've been able to work hard at something you enjoy doing, and seem to shower your loved ones with copious examples of your skill.

I feel absolutely terrible because I cannot remember your name, at all. Did you used to go by something else? I get the feeling I've asked you this before.
Regardless, thank you for responding, and the kind words!

What motivates you to comment on a submission?

What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
    Dunno

Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
Nah. May take a while to scroll to the comment box but nah.

Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
    Nah. x3

Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
Nope, I don't find any fur intimidating. xD

What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
    Cute. owo

Any suggestions you want to give
    Nope~.

    1. What motivates you to comment on a submission?

If I have something useful to say. Sometimes also if I am extraordinarily impressed by something which inexplicably has no favorable comments, also. But usually I avoid comments like "this is awesome" because I think that's what Favorites are for. Also sometimes I try to push myself to be social and comment just for the purpose of being active.

    1. What demotivates you to comment on a submission?

    This is my default state.

    1. Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?

Usually. When there are a lot of comments, I find that what I was going to say has already been said so... not useful.

    1. Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?

Don't make no nevermind to me.

    5. Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?

No, seeing as we've chatted occasionally. But as a general rule I find everyone hard to approach.

    6. What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?

Well, you know my motto - don't make assumptions.

    7. Any suggestions you want to give?

I think I dig your personal stuff most of all and would love to see more of it.

    • Link

Yay, thanks for answering! I always like hearing from you. I'll try and remember that people other than me like my personal art, and draw/post more of it!

  • Link

    1. If I find I actually have something to say - some insight to offer or some worthwhile commentary to make, and not just a generic "is good!" remark.
    2. Mostly my own shyness, and the ever-present fear that what I have to say wouldn't be welcome.
    3. Not as such, I suppose.
    4. Yes - otherwise it can seem like they're not really interested in hearing from me.
    5. Not in particular - of course, I'm a bit shy about anyone I don't really know.

I don't suppose this'll be terribly informative or helpful, but there's my two cents anyway.

    • Link

Thanks for responding! I try to keep at least my personal artwork interesting enough that there's something to comment on.

  • Link

What motivates you to comment on a submission?
usually something i really like. I'm more of a favourite-r than I am a comment writer. I want to comment more tho

What demotivates you to comment on a submission?
I don't think i've ever been demotivated when it comes to commenting. I don't believe I've encountered a situation where i wanted to comment, and then didnt.

Are you discouraged to leave a comment if the submission already has a lot of comments?
    nope!

Do you feel more inclined to leave a comment in a submission if the artist usually replies to its comments?
not really I don't think? I don't actively watch reply percentage. I mean it's cool if they do, but not a game changer if they dont

Do you find me intimidating to approach? Why?
I did when I first met you <3 since I had heard such wonderful things. I felt...hm, unworthy kind of? Like "little me, i'm a nobody, why would they want to hang out with me???'

What impressions do I give off (or, what do you assume about me)?
very caring, motherly (in a masculine way...saying fatherly doesnt have the same connotations to me), you know what you want and need and will do your best to get/keep it.

Any suggestions you want to give?
feel awesome because you are! <3

    • Link

Awh! Yeah, I do consider myself to be pretty maternal in a non-gendered sort of way. Even a masculine way, yes! You're awesome too <3 Thanks for answering!
