About Slavestreams! by Nommz

Hello all! I've been offering a thing recently to several folks called a "slavestream". I feel like a good majority of you all are familiar with the concept, and that's rad! I think I'll be offering it in the future, and I'll be updating my ToS in a little bit to include it. I figure it would be a good idea to make a journal about it so peeps know all of what it entails for me!

Wha izzit?

So! A slavestream is essentially where you have control of what art I produce during a stream of a time specified prior to the stream. I can work on whatever you'd like (barring content I'm uncomfortable with, as listed in my terms of service), be it sketches, flats, or shaded work; paintings aren't allowed because they'd take far too much time to even reasonably complete it. I get paid by an hourly rate, and whatever is completed during the set period of time goes to the client. Currently, the rate is $30 per hour. I will set a timer (currently I don't have a means of putting it on the stream feed itself), and pause it when I go on break for whatever reason (such as food or bathroom), but will not be paused if I'm waiting on ideas or references or other information.

What does that mean?

  • You're free to tell me to stop working on an idea and start another one, or revisit another one if you so choose.
  • There won't be a thumbnailing process, but you're free to stop and correct me, or suggest a different pose.
  • You can provide a list of ideas, a general theme for the works you want me to complete, and/or come up with ideas on the spot for me to draw.
  • Its entirely possible to get more finished in one stream than you would for the same price for separate commissions.
  • Its also possible to get a different amount of images finished in the same amount of time as someone else's slavestream, depending on content.
  • You're free to commission me at some other time to 'finish' a piece done during the stream (either with flats or shading).

How can I get the most bang for my buck?

  • Have ideas and references ready. Idea generation and reference gathering will cost you time, so its best to have that all figured out. If you plan on giving me a general theme with characters, be prepared with ideas anyway; I can't guarantee I'll be able to generate some quickly. I'll let you know if I'm blanking.
  • Feel free to share ideas before the stream. I won't work on anything, but mental preparation can save some time.
  • Simpler ideas take much less time than complicated ones. The less full figures the faster!
  • Sketches take less time than flats or shaded of the same complexity. If you're thinking of getting me to shade/color a piece later, let me know so I won't add tone to it, saving some time.
  • Familiar themes will be more comfortable for me, and thus take less time.

Payment

The current rate is $30 an hour, with a minimum of 2 hours, and a maximum of 8 hours per session. The amount of time spent streaming will be decided on prior to streaming, and an invoice will be sent for the full amount before the stream. Payment will not be accepted in halves.

Opening for this kind of work may be limited to time off from school, as Iā€™d need to dedicate time to prepare for it, as well as find a time slot that works for both of us.

Now, I'm not currently OPEN for these at this time, but I will try to open for them in the future; possibly during spring break. If there's any questions feel free to ask in the comments or via note/email. I'm sure I forgot something.
