Considering a few trades. by Sparkyopteryx

Hello freaks, geeks and other assorted humanoids! It's the end of the year and the beginning of a new one, which always gets me in the mood to interact and generally have fun with fellow artists and creators. Thus, I'm interested to take on a few trades!

Fair warning, the characters and subjects I usually request are often a bit nonstandard, i.e. monsters, human-things, weird fae or unusual anthro or animal mash-ups. Since I have so many of them, I try my utmost to match up appropriate characters to people's specific tastes or styles to make it as enjoyable for my trade partner as possible. I tend to be strongly biased towards receiving traditional art but I do like digital as well so that is not entirely out of the picture!

I work entirely in traditional, so if getting something like that isn't what you're interested in I'm afraid you'll have to look elsewhere. As far as things that I really like drawing, it varies quite a bit. However I'll narrow it down to make it somewhat easier; I'm especially interested in these sorts of themes/subjects: Dragons, mythological beasts, monsters, fae, Guild Wars 2, Art Noveau, Art Deco, steampunk/dieselpunk, cyberpunk, science fiction stuff and D&D/Pathfinder or Shadowrun-related things. That short list is by no means the end all and be all though, just my thematic leanings that I have the most fun with. As with pretty much anything, other than artistic nudes under no circumstances will I do adult art.

Alternatively, if you're up for it I love doing creature/character design trades. We'd have to work out just how we'd want to do it, perhaps using loose parameters like keywords, preferences or the like.

As far as what we'd be doing, I'm pretty flexible. Some kind of nice, refined single-character deal is just fine with me, preferably with some kind of background or setting. Something like these perhaps:

Or if you might not be in the mood for something so involved, I love doing fancy portraits like these:

I work in a wide variety of media, so I invite you to look through my gallery and see if a particular media or style strikes your fancy! Thanks a lot for your time, ladies and fellas.

Haha well, I'd say you have plenty of time to think it over. Your work is kickass so I'd definitely be up for it if you ended up wanting to.

Always loved your style. Shame I can't draw worth a damn.

Dragons and monsters?...Sounds like fun! :D

I would be up for this, if you'd like, since I have free time and I think we've got some complimentary interests.

Ooh, I would definitely be interested! (Apologies the delayed response by the way). Is there anything in particular you'd like me to create for you? You can be as general or as specific as you want. I figure it's safe to assume you'll be wanting me to work in ink yes? I love working in that media so no worries there.

I adore your biomechanical aesthetic, so if you'd be up for it I'd love an interpretation of my avian L'tahr character Topaz. (link to a character reference sheet is also there). And a more recent depiction She's currently undergoing redesign but since that takes a lot of time and effort to get on paper, don't worry about getting her "just right." You can have full artistic liberty and free reign with how you approach it, by the way. The point of the trade after all is to have fun and grow as an artist.

If you want to get more in depth with discussing details you can always message me instead.

Oh yes, got it in one. I'm actually going to drop you a note anyway so that I have some sort of thing to remind me of all the things. Also because I need to figure out what to propose because I have problems like that all the time.

Ffffff-, I would really love to do a trade if you'd like! Most of my stuff is digital, but I'm totally up for doing a portrait done in pencil or a larger piece for a creature or character design. :) I don't have much of my art up here, but uh...I can totally link you to pictures from my imgur if you want. Though, I'd be more comfortable with you only starting after I have at least the sketch done, because I'm really paranoid about finishing my end of stuff...if that makes sense? I have a few GW2 characters, a few Pathfinder characters, uh....I have a lot of characters that are specifically the kinds of things you like, it seems. I personally love drawing portraits or designing things, and I love drawing pretty much the same stuff you do, so uh...yes, let me know if you're interested. :D

Mm...I like your stuff! Looking through your gallery I can get a decent gist of the scope of things you can do. It's hard to say whether I'd like you to work in digital or pencil, because you have a unique stylistic "fingerprint" that varies depending on your media (which I think is kind of neat). Since we're both pretty big into portraiture, why don't we do a fancy portrait trade? As far as media goes, I'd say go ahead and work with whichever you're more comfortable with when it comes to details; your graphite stuff has lots of depth but your digital work has great lines and color.

And regarding you finishing the sketch first, that is fine; although I can't promise I still won't do some work on ideas or thumbnails during that time, depending on how quickly inspiration strikes me! I'm actually perfectly happy with such an arrangement.

Oh, making me choose from such a wide range of subjects I like...I think the best I could narrow it down to would specifically be Pathfinder or GW2 characters and keep the focus between either of those themes. I don't have many of my Pathfinder characters on paper but it wouldn't be much trouble for me to whip something up pretty quick. Conversely, it's really easy for me to simply get screenshots of any of my Guild Wars characters (I have a lot of them, by the way!). If you'd like, I can message you so we can talk and spitball in more detail.

I'm interested in it. I work mainly on digital media, doing digitalpainting in semi-realistic cartoonish-like style. I haven't uploaded much yet. Check my gallery. Let me know if you're interested.
