My Christmas celebration by RentonTBuck

Boy, what a Christmas celebration it was. ^^ Even though there were a couple misfortunes (for example, one of my cousins injured his knee recently while playing basketball and had to walk around on crutches, so he couldn't do much around the house movement-wise; plus my sister was coming down with a bit of a cold), everything else went without a hitch. :)

My sister and her fiance arrived on Christmas Day, and after picking them up from the airport, I took them home so we could open our own presents, watch "Guardians of the Galaxy" on Blu-Ray, and then have a big delicious dinner, which consisted of crab legs, salmon, biscuits and green beans.

Here's what I got for Christmas this year:
-Exotic jelly beans of various flavors and a chocolate frog (both were from my sister when she went to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Florida)
-A Wii Remote
-Two Wii Nunchuks
-"The Animated Man: A Life of Walt Disney" by Michael Barrier
-The Lego Movie video game for the Wii U
-Mario Kart 8 for the Wii U
-A bag of 3 Musketeers candy
-"Fantastic Mr. Fox" on Blu-Ray
-$20 cash
-"The Wild Truth" by Carine McCandless

Saturday started off with relatives arriving mid-morning so that we could hang out, chat, and enjoy some light appetizers and drinks for a while. Around 1 PM, we had our big buffet-style feast. Some of the relatives even brought their own food, and the choices included ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, broccoli, fruit platters and a strawberry Jello dessert.

After lunch, we open the remainder of our presents. The book I ordered online last week for a distant relative of mine arrived in the mail on Wednesday, which is much earlier than I expected. According to a notice I found on Amazon, it said that this particular book wouldn't be shipped out for another 2 or 4 weeks, and it was a brand new book that just came out on December 16th (Barnes and Noble didn't even have it available in stock anywhere in the state!), so it looks like I lucked out. lol I guess one might say that it was a Christmas miracle that it arrived just in time for the holidays. ^^

Then we played one round of Taboo. Every other person was assigned a team, and we had it so that whoever has the most cards guessed correctly by the other players based on the way he/she gives the clues is allowed to earn a special prize from a prize basket. The basket included a couple mini Lego models, a key chain, a mini book and a couple bags of candy. I was one of the winners and chose a mini Lego model of a locomotive.

After a serving of desserts (such as divinity, cookies and cream cheese mints), we had a brief sing-along of Christmas songs that we knew. I brought out my acoustic guitar and played the basic chords to songs such as "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells."

While a few of the relatives went off to play card games in another room, the rest of us watched "We're No Angels" on DVD.

For dinner, we ordered two pizzas from Papa John's and watched "Saturday Night Live Christmas Past" on DVD. After that, it was time for the relatives to head back to their hotels and rest up for the next day.

This morning, some of the relatives came along with me and my mother for breakfast at Perkins before they had to head out for home.

I can't wait to see what we have planned for next Christmas; maybe we could do a Christmas-style karaoke session. :)
