Midwest Furfrest 2014 - My Experience by nightdragon0

Convention review time!
I have to say, I knew MWFF was a larger convention. It felt a more 'Anthrocon-like', but actually be able to meet people and see them multiple times.

Wed:
Was nice to be back in the States and enjoy the cool weather!
I kind of expected it to be a sleepy day, but what do you know? Fursuiters already roaming about the lobby!
After settling into the room with Dark Lurker & Smyle, went round contacting people. Just hanging out & talking. That was a rather refreshing feeling, being able to take it easy before all the rushing around the convention.
Got my camera out and running, and even fursuited myself later on.

Thu:
Took a walk to the malls, to find them closed. Then ended up having the buffet breakfast in the hotel, which was good enough. Then on to more chilling out.
Met up with Ronnie and was able to catch the debut of the Grumpy Dragon brothers, together at last.
Meeting up with our final roommate, Singha. Then more fursuiting!

Fri:
Bunch of Asian furs met up for the buffet breakfast. I don't think I've ever had so much fun & laughter cracking Asian jokes at ourselves. And best part, we're Asian, so it's totally not racist! :p
I pretty much ran around most of the day in fursuit.

Went down to take part in the dance competition prelims, which was run pretty differently from Rainfurrest. I felt a lot better about my performance here than back at RF.
Didn't make it through again, but I kind of expected it. Even in the novice division, it's like 'WOW'!
Still, it was nice to have the experience.

Sat:
Headed down to meet up for the practice session, organized by JD, for the dance competition opening act (a separate act from actually participating). I was in Atsu's Red team.
It was held in the same room that TK's 'Quitting the Fandom' panel would have been held, before it was canceled. People still wandered in looking for the panel regardless, and JD's responses to them were pretty epic.
"Quitting the Fandom panel has quit the convention. Please come back next year for Quitting the Fandom III: Return of the Quitters!"

Then was the fursuit parade, which went kind of in a circle around the convention centre. After that, I wandered around. Got photos taken by the official photographer for the convention and went to those guys doing the 3D scans.
So I got a 3D scan of my fursuit done, and there's a figurine of it on its way. I'm looking forward to it!
Headed over for a quick photoshoot with some others with fursuits by Temperance.

Sat night - Sun morning incident:
I'm pretty sure the word has gone around of the whole evacuation thing.

My story:
I was just at the front door talking to Uncle Kage (after his panel with 2 Gryphon) when the alarm was sounded. Uncle Kage immediately went into his 'emergency coordinator mode' and said "Ok, we have to go now!"
Unfortunately, I didn't have my fursuit or a jacket on.
Ended up huddling outside with others for warmth, and I'm really thankful I found Sky Cheetah in his fursuit. And for him keeping me company.
I did eventually meet up with my roommates, and we shared around jackets & stuff, and hugging other fursuiters before they opened the other convention centre for us to take shelter in.
The irony was there was a dog show going on there.
We eventually left the convention centre and were able to crash with friends at another hotel. We returned to the Hyatt the next morning.

Sun:
My Sunday could be summed up as this:
-Suit up and rush to the ballroom for dance competition opening practice
-Rush to the back of the hotel to take part in Duke's music video
-Rush back to the ballroom to get ready for the real run of the dance competition opening
-Do the real run of the dance competition opening. Which was freaking epic!
-Except for the part where I slightly messed up JD's choreography. While standing next to him. In the front row. In front of BBF.
-And can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWUIvD4-vsI
-And hope none of them read this >.<
-Watched the rest of the dance competition. Which was epic as ever to see it up close. (I seldom get the chance to)
-Say goodbye to Ronnie & Uncle Kage
-Dinner
-Fursuit the rest of the convention until the end of the dead dog party
-Without really knowing what I was doing cause I was running on empty from the evacuation incident.

Mon:
Fly off.
And me, touching down in Singapore on Wed morning. Going back to work Wed afternoon. Surviving the day and typing this.

Totally worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I did a convention video again. Some additional clips are available at the Youtube link too.
