For those of you who don't know, Mac Deals is apparently an adware program that spams your computer with pop ups and hypertext links for questionable products on your browser. I didn't see it until I had restarted my computer, and it really bogged me down. I saw a tutorial that showed me how to remove the extension and I'm no longer experiencing those ad problems, but several places have told me there's an associated program installed in applications that should be removed to prevent the downloading of further malicious software. the thing is, I see no such application in my apps folder. I'm running Os X Mavericks. Is there anyone out there who knows whether or not I'm safe? I'm feeling quite terrified right now and don't know who to ask. the Apple Support forums are filled with people who go "Macs never get viruses" and put their heads in the sand, and the other option seems to be paying 20 bucks to apple support just so I can talk to them about it.
