Hatred by AtalantaSphinx

You know when you hate something?
It could be anything form food to a person, and you have no idea WHY you hate it, you just do?
And there's actually a visceral physical reaction to your hate. Feeling sick or dizziness and you're like WTF what is it about this that makes me hate this so much....and you can't come up with any reason?

Like WHY do I hate this, what is the cause for such extreme revulsion to something. Why am I drawing a blank? You can't just hate something for no reason.

Does anyone else experience this? Is there a name for that or a reason or something?

Hatred can become a chemical imbalance, which leads us into doing vile, and disgusting things.

Well hopefully my hatred toward broccoli is not going to get me in trouble some day haha.

This journal comes off much more mysterious than it truly is xD Sorry about that

Oftentimes we don't realize or remember what causes our dislike of things. I always hated the girl's section of clothes stores, but I realized it was a connection to past sexual assaults. I always hated stitching that scratched at my arms/legs/stomach in particular, but I realized it was mainly because my inability to remain still and how I don't want to be restricted/contained, especially by clothing. Sometimes things we hate don't make sense.

As for broccoli, did you have some reason to hate it as a child? Is it media? Is it that episode of Codename: Kids Next Door about the evil grandma making lunch with the awesome rock number?

Wow :( I'm sorry to hear about that!

And as far as broccoli goes.... I've always hated it with a passion.
My mother said that since I hated it so much for no reason, that "she would give me a reason", and proceeded to tell me about the butterflies that lay eggs in broccoli, and how when she picked it fresh from the fields they had to soak it in salt water to get the bugs out of it. And that she used to just eat it raw in the fields because she didn't know about that.

So if I didn't have a reason before to hate it, she cemented one pretty firmly haha. At least she's a woman of her word?

It's fine. I mean, it's not, but I've come to terms with it and I try and use my experiences as teaching moments.

Yeah, that's pretty gross. I can see why you dislike it. I adore broccoli. However, I hate honeymustard. I used to dip veggies and chicken in it with my grandfather for a while, but he died and I just suddenly hated the stuff.

Well I'm gad you're able to make the best of a bad situation. Better you can help others and being a guiding hand to others than many other paths out there.

Broccoli is one of the only vegetables that makes me want to pass out in a fury, one of the only foods besides liver and onions actually.
Like there's food I hate. Brussels Sprouts, black jelly beans, etc but none of them elicit such hatred lol.
Maybe in a previous life somebody poisoned my broccoli
