Eyedrops of +2 seeing! by thatlittlegoblin

Still dealing with eyestrain, but I'm takin it a little easy today and not really looking at any screens for longer than a few minutes at a time. Gonna buy a little humidifier to use next to my desk this weekend and friend's gonna help me adjust my desk tonight (lower it) cause that takes two people to do.

Should be back up to full power tomorrow!

Jeeze my eyes hurt

I'm tryin! I think maybe it's some combination of staying up too late, dry winter air, and too bright lighting conditions.

Eye strain is the worst! Here's some tips I've gotten:
-Try to keep the room around you as light as the computer screen if you can (i.e. don't stare at a bright screen in a dark room)
-Try taking breaks where you close your eyes for a minute or so before going back to work. Also, try to remember to look at something farther away (preferably across the room) every fifteen minutes or so. This can prevent strain as your eyes are constantly trying to focus close to you and this upsets them. (It can also help prevent furthering of eye damage if you already wear glasses).
-Make sure to be well-hydrated! It looks like you already have this tip since you're getting a humidifier, but staying hydrated by drinking plain water is p good as well.
-If you continue to have chronic eye strain, look into getting a pair of polarized computer glasses. They look a little goofy (or rather, like you're trying to be a hacker from the 90's) but they really do reduce the stress artificial light puts on your eyes for long periods of time. Gunnar is the most popular brand and they make many different models but are a little pricyy, and I'm sure you can find a suitable pair from another brand for $20 or under.

Sorry if you've already heard all these tips, just thought I'd let you know in case you hadn't. Good luck, and I hope you feel better!

My room is usually brighter than my computer screens, thankfully! I think my main problem is that I don'tt ake breaks from looking away from my screen often enough, but I'm working on that!

I've also got a big ol' water bottle I keep next to my desk, I just gotta remember to actually drink from it.
I already wear glasses and they've been treated with an anti-glare coating but idk how well that actually works haha.

Thank you for the helpful tips! I didn't know about the distance thing, I will definitely do that! :D
