The Anole in the Kitchen by sixrabbits

For a while now we've had this anole living in our kitchen, pooping on the counter and messing with the box of grass (for the rats).

Today I finally caught her while she was just starting to sun herself on the blinds.

Since I already possess a 10 gallon tank and plenty of substrate I decided to make her part of the family.

Still working on a name.
I was thinking Fantine, but it doesn't suite her personality. Perhaps Eponine? I don't know why, I just really want to name her after a Les Mis character. All lizards should have French names.

She's perked up a lot since I put her in the tank, and is having a love affair with her basking lamp.

I don't even know if she is a female, but I'm going to go on the assumption that she is until I see a dewlap.

Time to go out and buy a bunch of stuff to spoil her with!

If you hold her with one hand, you can GENTLY pull the skin of her throat to see if there is any color. The males rarely display unless they see other males, so you might not ever see a dewlap unless you pull it out yourself. I like Eponine, because you found her alone. Seems more fitting.

He flared his dewlap yesterday- I think he was just getting tired of me calling him a girl. Judging by his size I think he's a subadult.
So I changed the name to Gavroche.
He's started eating today and finished off a whole dozen mini crickets.
As soon as I finish the tank set up I'll probably get a female, since I've read that anoles do not do well alone (of course I have to wait, because the only place that has anoles is closed for repairs).
