Well this is upsetting. by Kompy

Things in FA have me worried about doing business there any more, or at least being extra cautious about it.

Problem is, much of my business is done here (even with my promoting of this being
Discount Pokemon-themed art week and all) and, let's be honest, this place is kind of dead in terms not of people that follow me here, as I have a fair few (and y'all rock, by the way), but of people willing to actually give me money in return for art. I can safely say that, since coming here, I have gotten zero commissions from anyone from here. So, you know, legit worry.

So right now, as far as I know, I have two options: Find a way to get more business here (and on DeviantArt, where I do a little better but is still pretty dead in regards to commissions) or find somewhere else to move. Tumblr, perhaps? Though the fact that I'm a lurker there at best means I'd be starting from scratch, plus there are things about the way comments are posted there that bugs me.

So, you know, any and all suggestions are more than welcome.

Well this is upsetting.

The problem with Weasyl is that there are no watchers/commissioners, just artists. :/

I would say maybe have tumblr as a secondary account. As Skylerbunny above's link says you should NEVER just up and relocate shop unless you are honestly looking to hide from your previous followers. I did that once when I wanted to get out of being associated with fanart ._. (I do still draw fanart here and there but I didn't want to be known as "that guy that draws digimon" anymore if that makes sense). Their commission ideas are a lot smarter than what I would have come up with as well.
Basically the issue with Weasyl is not that many people use it to look for commissions, its mostly just artists sharing their work. It takes years of dedication from a userbase before you can attract enough people to the site that are more there to get work then make work if that makes any sense.
That said tumblr wouldn't be a bad idea either. Also keep in mind a lot of good games game out this month and next month is Holiday season so there's a chance things could slow down anyway because people at throwing their cash at other things.

Btw what bullshit is going on at FA today?
