I keep wanting to switch to wind, ice, or lightning cause I fuckin hate that pink eye color and they all have good eye colors and seem to be pretty aggressive with dominance -- meanwhile arcane slobs (like me) are lazy and don't like breeding for exaltation or training for exaltation or buying innocent dragons off the auction house and exalting em. but I just watched neil degrasse tyson's cosmos and it reminded me why I chose arcane (i.e. gettin heart palpitations whenever I think about the universe ... and existing ... and how we got here ... and shit), so I guess my butt is stuck in arcane. man I really wish the eye color was different though... even if it was just gray I'd be down with that.
on top of that, you might be interested to hear that arcane has one of the largest populations, but the lowest retention rate. check it: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApqH_Jee5_bWdGgtcGZZZlFYcDhjeE1fcmpfRkNrakE&usp=sharing#gid=0 every month, around 50 players leave arcane and join ice or light or whatever; two flights with some of the highest retention rates.

I didn't even know it was possible to change your affiliation. How exactly do you do it anyway? I'm still learning all the ins and outs of this game, I've never exalted, I'm not sure what I'm doing with breeding, all this stuff. I don't mind the eye color at all. I am surprised and slightly amused and saddened that it has such a low retention rate. You'd think they'd do something about that, try to balance it more. e_e

earth has the lowest join rate, so new players who haven't chosen their flight (since you don't have to choose it immediately) get automatically placed there after awhile (a couple weeks or more, I think?)
there was a whole thread about that -- very interesting! -- but of course I can't find it now. anyway, in a sense, they are doin something about the flight populations, haha...
if you go to your account settings, you can change your flight for free once. after that, it's 1.5k gems (a pretty pretty penny...I've never earned that many gems in all my time of playing) and you can't change it again until six months after that change.

Egads that is a LOT to pay to change a second time! o_o Kind of excessive actually. I'd better think long and hard before I leave the Arcanist...

Man if I'd known how unpopular (and kind of useless in combat) the Arcane dragons were I wouldn't have started with them.
