Not Surprising.... by VernonCross
still very inconvenient, though.
Especially when most of my recent icon commissioners all had references connected to Furaffinity, and y'know, we can't even look at the site right now.
and i no longer save images of other peoples characters to my computer because that's a quick way to clutter everything up.
So apparently it's a DDOS attack (according to FA via Twitter)
and now i'm hearing that its targeting furry sites, so if weasyl drops, i guess i'm SOL on commissions, but until then, if anyone would be interested in some $25 sketches (digital)
let me know!

i don't follow the forums xD i just watch what's going on via Twitter.
for now i think the best bet for me anyways, is to work on what i can with refs that aren't connected to FA.
seems the easiest.

Saving references is a quick and reliable way to do it. The trick to keeping them from becoming cluttered is through organization. What I do is divide my projects into separate folders, each of which contains the working files, references, and exported art from that project.
My subfolder method looks like:
Art > Drawings > 2014 > [Project Name]
It keeps everything consolidated and tidy.

ahhhh ;u; i have a lot of commissions though, that's where the issue really rears its head. i'm on my new computer too so my organization on here is pretty flighty just cause i don't plan on keeping tons of png's on this computer for long periods of time.
I may just keep character refs on here but yeah, saving images gets way out of control for me, especially since a lot of my commissioners are repeat customers and i end up just keeping the files on my laptop forever cause i'll use the refs again eventually xDD
I.... need to clean this laptop up, regardless. it is getting kind of out of control already just with what i do have...

I'm secretly hoping fa burns to the ground, but I'm certain they will be back sometime this year. Huehuehue. Really though, I wonder who is doing it. I mean it's all furry sites, so it must be an angry furry-hater or a pissed off furry lol

in all seriousness, i don't mind if everyone ends up over here, i just need my refs back. most of them i can poke about refs over Twitter, hopefully they still have the refs i need xD
guess i should start saving refs to Trello TuT i so don't like doing that though.-
You could always do like the other commenter suggested and have project folders or something. I know with the stuff I have commissioned, I separate the files by character and have a hi-res folder within the character folder for the hi-res files (if provided of course). What you could do with the refs is just have a folder for the repeat customers and within that folder, the refs you know you will use again. So like... Repeat Customer refs > customer > refs
I think taking a little time somewhere along the way and organizing things will really help you a lot in the long run.
But that could also just be me xD... I tend to be extremely disorganized with personal stuff and highly organized with work stuff... Though I am also getting better at that, more recently.

haha like i told Ransom though, I don't plan on keeping refs on this computer... i've actually been thinking about getting another flash drive, maybe i'll put it on one of those. :O
i'm normally super organized, but i feel like to do that better i should just pull all my folders from my old laptop xD

That would be bad as I would lose every commission I ever got. I just had to get a new comp when my last one fried itsself. after I get my stuff back I'll go back to being apathetic about it :P

Actually what I do in cases like this is that I organize all of my commission references to my dropbox! That way it is not swallowing up my personal computer space. c:
I make a folder for each commissioner, then organize their references to each folder. I also make sure I have people e-mail me! It works wonders!The only time it doesn't work out though is when I finished all my commission's and need to accept more....yikes >.>''

xDDi guess i should FINALLY get myself a drop box... TuT hate how i can't just right click to copy the image from it though... ohwell!

Well that's the nifty part! By saving and putting the files into your dropbox, you can still access them like a regular image in any other folder on your computer! The 'public' function just makes it so it's up on their lil server thing and you can get a public personal link for people to look at anywhere.
It's really not much different than saving them onto your computer, except it doesn't take up computer space! (as far as I know, it's why I use it. c:)
