Why Do You Watch Me? by sixrabbits

Alternately titled "Why do you put up with me, I'm kind of terrible" or "Egofishing"

I'm actually curious. Sometimes I look at my art and I'm not always certain if I would want to watch me, because I'm kind of all over the place in terms of style and content. One day it's cute ponies, the next day it's a two headed rabbit wearing a crown.

I dunno...

Maybe it's the bunnies. That's all you really want out me isn't it? Bunnies.

    The bunnies don't hurt.

I've been following because I think your work has always been solid, and one of the big draws is precisely because you mix up your styles and content. I'm not necessarily going to look at every drawing every artist does (and I've been really crap about commenting lately) but you keep it mixed up and really try to put out interesting things all the time. And that's a big plus in my book.

So, in short: keep doing what you're doing!

      Aw, thanks!
I've just never been able to stick to just one thing. I would be so bored.

I'm here for the wild variety of style and content :P

  • Link

Because I love and adore you as a person and admire your art and skills <3

Aw, thanks hun! You are an awesome person yourself.

That and while it might scare me sometimes, I really like the contrast between the things that you can draw. The cute and creepy.
It's really awesome that you can do both or even make creepy things look cute.

For me, there are a lot of things that are considered creepy, but I think they're cute. Plus some of the things that make stuff cute, is kind of weird to me (like big eyes).

That and I am scared of just about everything so I'm a bad person to be compared to >w<

            • Link

Well, I was a weird child. I was afraid of odd things, and a lot of them. I eventually just broke and stopped being afraid of half of them (most of them were irrational anyways).

My rule of thumb is if I like several of someone's pictures I follow/watch them. Sure you do stuff that doesn;t appeal to me at times, but then you do an interesting drawing and I think WOW, glad I saw that

Haha, I've got a little bit for everyone.

  • Link

I found a picture that resonated with my overall taste and started watching you in the hopes to one day get a commission after checking through the rest of your gallery. Simple as that ^^

      Aw, thank you.
I should have some slots opening up soon, just have to finish some others first.

I watch you because your art exhibits a wide variety of subjects I enjoy: surrealism, fantasy, monsters and other stuff. Your style, especially the technical aspects and your attention to detail. Also I love that your art feels like it's moving forward in development and improvement and that you aren't shoehorning yourself into a single "acceptable, popular subject" that some artists have sadly fallen into. You also seem to be a genuinely interesting person.

      Oh wow, I'm flattered.
I feel like in the last couple of years I've started picking up more speed in some areas. Especially since I've been finding more tools to use to my advantage.

Quite simply: I follow you because I enjoy your work. The bunnies help, but that's not all I'm here for. To feed your ego a bit, I would say that the variety of styles you've drawn in and attention to anatomical detail is very telling of your technical ability and potential to go further as an artist.

One day it's cute ponies, the next day it's a two headed rabbit wearing a crown.

But, that's exactly what I enjoy seeing. If there's anything I could suggest, it's that I'd like to see more backgrounds/scenery whether as individual pieces or as part of another work. Granted, I really enjoy seeing that kinda thing regardless of artist, so my suggestion is obviously a bit biased.

Seeing you've posted something new is always a joy.

Thank you very much for your flattery!
I agree, I do tend to be lacking in images with backgrounds. I keep starting sketches of them, but it always ends up shallow. I have a few ideas that I really need to draw, maybe I will get some of them out for Inktober.

You've done some great commissions for me in the past, and you aren't afraid to experiment and try new things. I don't follow many artists, or even really look for new ones these days, so if I do follow someone their work appealed to me in some way, and still appeals to me now.

Now I should ask for more commissions...

    • Link

I'm honored that you have continued to follow me for so long. You have brought me a few fun challenges with commissions, and I'd be happy to do more for you.

Honestly, I love that you diversify SO much. It keeps things fun and interesting and I love that you give no fucks that things need to just be "cute" or just "creepy" and you post both so flawlessly and you marry the two so wonderfully and you're also just genuinely nice to talk to when we have talked! (ps I got your picture in the mail and I LOVE the unicorn you doodled on it !!! x3)

Thanks! Haha, I don't think I could stick with just cute or creepy.
I thought it was a good choice of imagery.
