note: first friday is the nation's largest artwalk. it spans approx 1mi and looks like your average highschool hallway. tons of people. they used to shut down the road so it was safer for people to walk and there was vendor space. the city stopped doing that and tried to shut down first friday by not having anything "official" and all tabling and booth space went away. so it was just the galleries and their yards open.

Today:

1)start out with dream. dream previously posted. dream was about helping people get out of shitty situations and getting them to stand up for themselves.

2) get random message and skype friend request. talk to chick. chick is dealing with a manipulative bitch who's trying to socially isolate her and turn her friends against her.

3) hesitate before going out to first friday. Grab pepper spray. -thought I might need it. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE- Saw neckscarf. wanted to wear it. decided it would be too hot. skipped out on that one.

5) FEELING OF ELECTRICITY IN THE AIR. SOMETHING IS GOING ON. Arrive at firehouse. ---chilll--- watch a punk band play. be friendly with them. draw some pictures. all is chill. I chill out. less high strung. Its hot as balls. so I sit outside.

6) walk outside. see friend begging at the corner. chill. hang out. help beg. give begging advice.

7) OH LAWDY ITS A PROTEST. IS IT THE VEGANS AGAIN? ...WAIT. ...WAIT.. THEY'RE THE ANARCHS. WHAT ARE THEY DOING. MUST FOLLOW. .... JESUS SHIT THEY ARE ALL WALKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD AND SHOUTING "OUR STREET. THIS IS OUR STREET!" >MUST PURSUE. PURSUIT ENGAGED.

8) I stay on sidelines. just observing. Police are following them and surrounding them. >mfw- it will end up like last time. When people got pepper sprayed and chased down by police helicopters and people freaking out. NOPENOPENOPENOPE

10) get to safe area, join in with protesters. most of them are people I know. hang in safe area. nothing illegal. gain more confidence.

12) MORE PEOPLE JOIN IN. CHANTING ENSUES. PEOPLE HOLD SYRIAN FLAGS, BLACK ANARCHIST FLAGS, RED FLAGS, PEOPLE SHOUT ABOUT FERGUSON, PEOPLE SHOUT ABOUT SYRIA, PEOPLE SHOUT ABOUT OCCUPY.

13) MARCHING ENSUES. MOST OF FIRST FRIDAY JOINS IN. THE STREETS ARE CROWDED WITH PEOPLE. BARRICADES ARE KNOCKED DOWN. CAUTION TAPE IS TORN DOWN. THE STREET LIGHTS TURN TO YELLOW FLASHING.

14) THE STREET NOW BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE. ALL HAIL THE PEOPLE!

15) feelin good. feelin fine. fuck the police. feeling slightly more confident. I am not being hurt, the police arent doing anything to me. I am fine.

16) some asshole meathead starts shit with an anarcho buddy. chick threatens to spray meathead with pepper spray. I jump in and scream "DO YOU KNOW WHAT MY FAVOURITE PET IS? FISH. FISH FISH. I LIKE FISH. DO YOU LIKE FISH?" the guy just kinda chills out. and I shove anarcho dude away. anarcho dude yells stuff but I keep yelling about fish.

17) chant goes from "hands up, dont shoot" to "hands up, fight back" to "hands up, shoot back" >thats when me and my friends duck out. the group now consists of only about 30 people or so. not about 200 like before. people duck out as they march to the end of the street which is surrounded by cops.
