New story online, and general updates by Poetigress

Those of you who keep up with my blog already know about this, but I have a new bit of dark flash fiction online at Lakeside Circus:

"How Mother Rabbit Lost Her Name"
http://lakesidecircus.com/2014/07/1267/

It still amuses me that they illustrated it with a Beatrix Potter piece. XD

I'll have more publication announcements soon -- "The Bear with the Quantum Heart" is (finally) being reprinted in another online magazine next month, "The Frog Who Swallowed the Moon" should be out shortly as well, and since we're past the contract-signing-and-payment point with Rabbit Valley, I'm assuming Pulp! will be out in the not-too-distant future with "Tesla Mae and the Lost Tribe," among great stories by other furry authors.

So publishing is going pretty well at the moment. Writing... yeah, well, that part kinda sucks. :/ I don't do well trying to write under stress, and there's been a lot of stress lately, coupled with something that's probably mild to moderate depression and tends to suck me down with it every so often. (I hit a point last week where I realized I didn't want to be around any writers, furries, or furry writers. Not a good headspace for a president of the Furry Writers' Guild to be in, obviously. XD Fortunately it didn't last too long. Apparently sometimes these days my emotional state has to hit rock bottom before it can start climbing up again.)

At any rate, I do have a deadline coming up fast, and I know some people are looking for me to submit, so I'm going to try to get myself in gear again, at least for that. I'd also like to get a new ebook mini-collection of all my holiday stories out before Thanksgiving, but I'd want to write at least one new story for it, and I'll have to figure out cover art, which means money we don't really have right now... so we'll just see how things go. I'm still tempted occasionally to start up a Patreon, but I get the feeling I probably wouldn't earn enough from it to be worth the obligation I'd feel. *shrug*

So how's everybody else doing? >^_^<

I really liked "how Mother Rabbit lost her name".

I am SO looking forward to Pulp! I couldn't resist a quick read of the whole proof and I can't wait to see it in hard copy.

I'm currently at a point where I have several longer works awaiting editing, and I realise I hate editng and am no good at it. Gah.

    Also, I would Patreon you.

(Incredibly late response is incredibly late.) XD

Yeah, revision/editing are my least favorite parts of the process. That's why I can't really do the whole "just throw stuff on paper and fix it all later" type of first draft. I like having the first draft in as decent a state as possible, in hopes of minimizing the work later on.

Patreon... Still on the fence -- though it's nice knowing I'd have somebody on board :) In the end, though, I also know that in my current fragile emotional state, if I were to put up a Patreon and get only a couple people pledging, it'd make me feel worse than just not doing it at all. Maybe eventually; we'll see.

I'm also careful about first drafts. That should make them count as at least a second, if not a third, draft, right?

I'm sorry you're feeling fragile - hope things perk up for you soon.
