Police Officer Caught On Video Calling Michael Brown Protesters 'F***ing Animals'
This is a long, very complex article with a lot of pictures and multiple viewpoints from vine, twitter, and other such sources. Some content is graphic: blood and violence, please consider this before opening.

Wife of Ferguson police chief calls black community "feral" and "violent."

FDC 4/2599 ZKC MO..AIRSPACE FERGUSON, MO..TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS WITHIN AN AREA DEFINED AS 3 NM RADIUS OF 384428N0901812W (ST LOUIS VORTAC STL129011.0) SFC-3000FT TO PROVIDE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITIES. PURSUANT TO 14 CFR SECTION 91.137(A)(2) TEMPORARY FLIGHT RESTRICTIONS ARE IN EFFECT. ONLY RELIEF AIRCRAFT OPERATIONS UNDER DIRECTION OF ST. LOUIS COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT ARE AUTHORIZED IN THE AIRSPACE. AIRCRAFT LANDING AND DEPARTING ST. LOUIS LAMBERT AIRPORT ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS TFR. ST. Note: dehumanizing language (calling people feral and animals) is genocidal language. Every genocide or attempted genocide in human history has been preceded by this sort of talk... and this isn't even politicians, but everyday police and their families. Unreal.

edit
Ferguson looks like a warzone
Militarization of police is underway. Tension.
I fear a breaking point soon. Safety and solidarity to those protesting.

Fucking hell. How can people still deny that there is racism in the country?

    • Link

I don't have a clue. Although I guess it's easy if you're on the side that doesn't experience it.

      • Link

Racism is an understatement really. There's an all out war against the black community, and if anything the black community has been remarkably civil considering all the violence the community has faced.

Yeah, antiblack racism is particularly nasty in the US. I will never claim to know what it's like to experience racism on that level. It's disgusting how often black men are wrongfully stopped, arrested, beaten, and killed. There are so many stories from so many places that I've lost track. I try to stay up to date on these sort of things, but... the sad truth is, there's been a million Mike Brown type incidents, and it's amazing that the black community has been so tolerant so far.
I don't see this going away in the face of peaceful protests... the police will not just go "oh okay, we didn't realize you were being hurt, we'll stop," because they're invested in their beliefs. And antiblack racism and white superiority and police superiority are all a huge part of that.

I'm just holding my breath right now. I'm afraid this will get much uglier soon.

          • Link

I don't know if "uglier" is the right word though. Time and time again these things happen, and time and time again there are protests. This is not new, to the person of color, we've been fighting back for decades, and we'll keep fighting back. That is all we can do. I don't think we are reaching a tipping point anytime soon, for better or for worse...

            • Link

Well, I just meant for those on the protesting end. I'm afraid there will be more hurt soon, is all I mean. I know it can't get much uglier overall... I just don't know when/if violence will break out... but I fear it will. And make no mistake, I'm not saying the protesters will instigate or deserve that violence.
Overall, a "tipping point" doesn't seem likely because... it's been this way forever. Every incident is a local "tipping point," but what can we do against oppression and violence that pervasive and legally backed that will cause it to actually dissipate? That will take a much longer time. I mostly just meant... in this particular area, at this time... I fear there will be more imminent and targeted police brutality to come in the aftermath.

I fear for my safety and the safety of my family. Makes me sad that I have to live life looking over my shoulder because of racists. :c

Didn't the KKK show up within 5 miles after a while?
Or at least reports of it. Some seem to say that it's fake, a whole lot more seem to believe it/imply they saw them.
