28! American living in UK. I am here because weasels are pretty much the best things ever.

My backlog here is about about 4500 submissions, though. I went ahead and watched EVERYONE EVER before remembering, oh, I don't really look at art much these days. I swear I'll catch up eventually, though.

    • Link

Oh, why did you move away from america, if I might ask? My best friend will move overseas soon, but from germany to america :3

I am soooo nit-picky about keeping my inbox and submission folder claen xD I check in everyday and sometimes, after a vacation or so, I even stay up late just so I can make sure I have no messages or anything left! xD

      • Link

My partner is here getting his PhD in archaeology at Cambridge. He's got some big meaty weasel brains.

The last time I fell behind like this, I eventually got sick for a week and managed to get caught up by virtue of lacking the psychic energy to do anything else. I'm just waiting for my next flu, basically.

        • Link

Woah nice, Im always very sceptical if archeology is that much of a thing, I loved it when I was little, but everybody told me it had no future, people don't get work in that field?! Was very disheartening, but its such a cool subject OwO

Pfff, I don't think I will ever see anybody say they are waiting for the flu again xD

          • Link

Archaeology careers, um, well, yeah, let's not talk about that. I think at this point he's just hoping for a professorship somewhere warm and tropical.

Myself, I'd kind of like to go back to school, but I don't actually have any specific academic or career ambitions. I think mostly I just want to avoid the real world a while longer, but I also just feel like I've gotten many times stupider since leaving university.

            • Link

Oh well, I am hoping the best for you two then!!! And I totally get the "avoiding real life" thing hahah... I was actually pretty lucky with my boss and work and everything, but I konw so many people struggling and theres at least one journal a week, on herer or fA, where people just tell about their struggles. It ain't easy...

We're apparently the same age! I'm local to the North-East Scottish Coast, and what brought me to weasy was the UI, Friendly Staff and how well the background colour scheme complemented my art. Unlike everyone else, I also like how quiet it was, I had a brief stint of self-learning Marketing so I also wanted to test the idea that people would go to where the art is, I was an early adopter of Weasyl.

I really like your art hence why I'm following, I'd be more specific but I'm about to go into the shower. Personally, I most write stuff, and do coding for website development & design and lately games, although I do make art myself, I do a lot of different interrelated things. I'm also a wannabe Polyglot as I like learning different languages, I've made progress with German, and some with Mandarin, but over the course of my life I'm aiming to learn 5-7 or more.

    • Link

Ooooh, I want to visit where you live someday, we had a few hours at school about scotland and everything, and though some time passed since then, I remember the beautiful landscapes and the architecture very well. How far do you live from the sea?

I like your glitch effects - I never really had it with digital stuff somehow. I like some digital things, but they somehow rarely leave me in awe. With traditional media I'm way easier to excite x)

What kind of games do you code?

And I know English, german and a little french, and though I'd like to learn italian or spanish, cause I really like the sound and their culture too, but I am WAY too impatient xD

      • Link

I've never been any more than an hour away from the sea. Either it's been directly outside my window, or it's a twenty minute walk. I also tend to collect tourist brochures on local sights and museums just for writing and art reference. We've also got a Whiskey Trail, so you could go from distillery to distillery with some offering free samples for their tours. North there is the Lighthouse museum, which is really interesting for people into telecomms as it also has this local Amateur Radio Group. Locally to the town I'm in there's this history museum that mostly on the development of Agriculture, and upstairs has this exhibit on the Observer Corps. If you're interested in Culture it's pretty good place to use for writing reference, but like anywhere else it's going to be what you make of it.

I do both Traditional and Digital, but I typically combine them to make mixed media. I've done monotyping, lithography, and silk-screens but as it's really resource intensive and something I need a studio for, I've been let back by the lack of funding. But as Digital Art with glitch art and processing can be technical, I also really like Wet Photography as a traditional counterpart. Just setting a camera on a slow shutter speed and drawing with glow sticks. ugh, it's amazing.

So far I've made clones of older similar games, the latest one is 'Snake' these so far are practices I won't publish. But I'm currently making a game using 'Twine' as a Choose-your-own-adventure style game. http://www.auntiepixelante.com/twine/

My patience can rival a Zen Buddhists'. Trees have died of boredom before I will. I just make a small effort each day, and think more of 'how' I'm learning rather than that always on the 'what' I'm learning. You can try and learn the secrets of the universe so to speak, but if you don't learn it that well you'll forget it after so many days pass. So my desk is decorated with reference sheets, and lists and graphs, and various motivational quotes, while my laptop is riddled with note-taking and organization software. I also like learning languages that have a different alphabets so after German, and Mandarin, I really want to learn Korean and then the Arabian Script. I've also has some success with Morse Code and British Sign Language. Oh, and Unicode for Computers. As it's how people got those symbols they decorate they're page with.

I grew up near the northern sea, a little further away than you, but always in close reach. I just love the sea ;w; And I love drinking too so a tour like that would be perfect hehe :P

I did only very brief experimantation with wet photography in school, and boy it was fun!!! But all the equipment one would need ugh ;w; Did you ever do some kind of art school or something, or how come you've tried so many different things already? I only had a normal art class in school, nothing fancy (but still loads of fun until it got theoretical :((( )

I only ever experimented around with rpg maker when I was younger =w= It was fund, but not even that I had patience for haha

I wish I could see your desk, must look interesting, like in a mystery movie where they try to find a clue and clatter their walls with notes and stuff x3 You have an interesting taste and good ambitions!!! I wish I was half that organised / motivated!

          • Link

So I imagine you'd have lived near Hamburg if you were close to the Northern Sea? Of course, Germany being Central in Europe, you'd be close to everything. I'm really envious how easy it would be to travel. As people I know who routinely go on holidays only ever go to the same place every year and it's either Blackpool the coast over, or Tenerife in Spain, or Florida in American. I keep seeing photos of the same snapshots of Spain every family reunion, the repetition would drive me mad.

I've tagged up a price list of items needed for wet photography, it can be less than a £1000 but it's something I'd need to give more thought into as I've moved house. I haven't gone to an Art School, but I went to a vocational College which offers specialized art classes so people can get the qualifications and grades to be eligible for entry in any of Scotland's Art Schools. In Scotland Tertiary education is split into 'higher' and 'further' education. I was previously in Higher Education and studying Forensics, there I joined nearly every Society, and regularly checked noticeboards and got around to talking to people, just by showing an interest I ended up finding opportunities so despite the people I stayed in Student halls with (who I had social problems with) I ended up getting every few weekends to try something new, like Blacksmithing, Swordfencing, or got into 'School Department Only' parties despite not studying that course or related work. So I also got Christmas Dinner with the Philosophy society, and made it to open mic nights for the Comedy Society with free entry despite I never paid dues. I really blame my Stepfather for this curiosity as he kept doing things an it's how I got into radio/telecomms then linux and programming, and now he's doing woodwork and microbrewery.

The first game engine I used, was actually MSPaint. I just drew up a Map, and made characters then reference sheets and wrote down rules, and just moved people people by cutting and dragging them about. The first game I made was a demake of Half-Life 1. I also made toys out of paper, like drawing them and cutting them out and using them as dolls. There's a few different ways to cut the paper or fold it so they can stand, and then I'd make their houses out of Jenga bricks.

He's a shot of my desk: http://sadenacht.tumblr.com/post/92727161421/this-is-a-photo-of-my-desk-as-asked-for-by Also that container with the orange goop, is soup my mother made. It's Squash, Carrots, an Onion and butter... and more that far too many chilies, but only I like. c_c

            • Link

I grew up in Brake Unterweser which is very water surrounded (now I live in a huge urban area, I kinda miss the sea, but I visit at least 3 weeks a year). I wish I would travel more, but I don't have friends who live nearby and love nature and exploring and different cultures as much as I do v__v and alone its only half the fun.

Wooooah, sounds like you had an awesome time (I'm jealous now!!!) OwO I am way too anti-social unfortunately, I usually like to have a small group of close people and avoid contact with strangers (though Im not opposed to it, Im just a little shy and get nervous easily)

Kinda like the way you made your game I always made "comics", I had folders filled with reference sheets, doodled page layouts, maps with ridicoulous named countries and stuff like that xD Good times!!!!

And your desk reminds me actually how my desk used to look when I lived with my parents haha (just not narly as neat!!!) and I really like it, the pictures look very calming! I really need a view outside / daylight, which is why my setup is directly in front of my windows now, but if it wasn't, my wall would look similar hehe!

  • Link

yay we like you toooooooooooooo <3

    • Link

hugs you tight Thank you heheh <3

I am a boring person who came here to do boring things and look at boring pictures.

AND YOU'RE MAKING THE LAST PART REALLY DIFFICULT FOR ME.

    • Link

PFFFF so you claim that my art ISNT BORING?!?!?! I BEG TO DIFFER! òwó

      • Link

Hey, I'm the one that has to look at it! Sitting there, making everything colorful and artistic. It ruins the mundanity of my experience here! D:<

        • Link

Then shall I post only sketches from now on, with dull expressions, the same poses over and over again, as I DID BEFORE DONT YOU FIGHT ME ON THIS, I will show you what boredom means
          squints and hisses

          • Link

Good! Artists that with no imagination that cater to my whims and only do the things I like are the best kind. Artists that explore, expand and do what makes them happy are too exciting and intense.

            Bro. BRO. Fight me bro.

            • Link

              sorry bro
              a fight would be too

              intense
              for me =w=
              trodges away

also you are way too funny, you aren't boring, so STOP IT x3

              • Link

You are clearly attacking me personally. Therefore my only option is to overreact, lash out at you, and then "fix" the problem by moving to the polar opposite of the imagined accusation.

People seem to like my brand of sarcasm, and I'm just full of it! :D

                • Link

Heheh, I love it for sure! :D

                  • Link

                    DID WE JUST BECOME FRIENDS

Kidding aside, I should probably get to the topic at hand. xD I came to Weasyl mostly because of the mass exodus. A lot of people became exclusive and I wanted to keep up with them. I stayed because it's a nice site, and some things work better here than on FA. And I've always been told that you should put yourself out there as much as you can if you want people to see your stuff, so nyeh.

                    • Link

WHO KNOWS THINGS HAPPEN haha x3

Also, same here with the exodus, and I feel like it was 100% the right decision, I have had NO regrets so far~

                      • Link

Okay but if we did NO FREE ART FOR A MONTH. YOU CANT DO IT. YOU ARE FORBIDDEN. 8U

I don't blame you, it's a lot better in many ways. Especially written submissions. So, so much easier. I don't know why people knock it, or any "other" sites for that matter. It's not like any of them are flawless. Hell people thought Facebook would be a flop, and "why bother, when we have MySpace". :V

                        • Link

haha, dont your worry, Im actually bad at doing free stuff ;w; I am happy enough if I get my ass off the couch to finish the things I owe xDDD Procrastination, everybodies nemesis~

                          • Link

Ugh, I know how that goes... I don't really owe stuff, but the feeling's the same when it comes to getting things done. xD

26 living in New England. I came to Weasyl because it's so much better than FA, and I went back to FA because, predictably, after the Zaush drama died down, fuckin nobody uses Weasyl. But the main reason why I joined Weasyl was because they have a video embedding feature that FA can't seem to get around to installing yet, which makes posting my review videos much better and less tedious than there.

    • Link

Its so sad how people go back to fA, but its understandable, at the very least for those making their living with art... sighs
Also, that pic of you on your page: Fabulous! xD

      • Link

The featured cover pic? Thanks! XD
I wear that outfit in all my videos. ... It can get bitchy in summer.

        • Link

Oh I can imagine! Doing a video you could find yourself in a
          sticky situation
          badum-tss x3

          • Link

Not really sticky ... Well, I suppose my clothes stick to my body, if that's what you meant. lol

            • Link

              Im not good at puns ;w;

I'm 24, living in Atlanta. I moved to Weasyl because I finally got fed up with FA staff and management. It's an ugly web 1.0 site run by babies and there's no point in my contributing to its pageviews. Leaving hurt my commission business some but I'm big on sticking to my word so I won't go back.

I'm bad about commenting but I really dig your work! I try and comment around here a lot but I've been really tied up working on my degree. I want to help contribute to the Weasyl community so everyone can finally quit FA.

    • Link

Same attitude towards fA here! I just don't feel very well in using that site and supporting their views and behaviour :/ Kudos to you for not going back! I really hope to see Weasyl bloom up and become a vibrant, healthy, active community! I try my best just as well, commenting, even if I dont have much to say, even if it's just "I love that" or something. It's what makes peoples day brighter (at least mine, you made mine brighter by commenting, hehe x3)

  • Link

The old guy here I think, 57, I live in Maryland USA with my husband. We have been together 30 years this year.
I am on Weasyl because I needed an art community and FA had proven to be nasty, unfair and not a place I could be a part of anymore. I like Weasyl but wish people would get more active here.
Traditional only artist, love seeing new peoples art.

    • Link

Woooah, congrats on the 30 years, thats a milestone! :O
I always try my best, commenting as much as I can, this journal was a part of that, and I am more than happy how many responses I got! I really really like all the people I have met on here so far and I hope that streak of luck continues!
Also, I really like your traditionals OwO It's not really a style I like unfortunately, but you watercolours and inks look great!!! I am a huge fan of traditional arts, and while I don't oppose digital media, I am just really hardly ever that awed by it, like I am with traditional pieces.

If you like to, you can recommend some traditional artists you really like? I always love seeing new artists!!! Only if it's not a bother!

      • Link

Just look through my favs or the people I am following :) I would recommend any of them I am sure.

  • Link

I am 21!!! I wanted to do something new especially with organization so I saw weasyl and was like.. yes!!

  • Link

    -rolls in-

25 years of survival. I am from Panamá (raised and born). Currently working as an engineer drafter.

I found weasyl basically by accident, say just a comment around FA or DA about this site and was curious enough to give it a try and I can't be more happy with this place. I feel comfortable for the first time in an artsite. Tumblr being the second place I am active, my DA and FA are basically dead.
Though I am but a shadow trying my best to not really get that much attention since it makes me nervous v//o//v.

Started as an animal artist then shifted to humans and now back again to animals/anthros as I slowly work on my humans again. Currently trying to gain more exp. in both type of media, traditional & digital.

I follow you because you have a style that I find appealing to my likings. I usually don't comment nor fav works from artists I watch because I am more of a stalker and i would find it strange to fave everything lol.

    • Link

      hugs youuuuuu
I am so happy I have found you on here, but honestly, had't you thanked me for the watch I probably wouldn't have found you because of the different times of activity but BOY AM I GLAD YOU DID!!! haha

I started with humans too, got into drawing alot more when I discovered Manga and Anime~ And my best friend always has been into furries, so he made me draw them xD I was his art slave basically (but I loved it!!!) and so I pretty much very very slowly slipped into the furry fandom x3 I feel so very cozy and comfortable and welcome here though, I wouldn't wanna miss it!!!

hugs you again for good measure

      • Link

-wiggles and hugs you like a bear-

I am happy too that you found me lol. You nice person,...adorbs person squeezes your face I am actually almost 24/7 logged in my skype -nudge hint-

ohohohho I see, it seems like that most of the case xD. I started arting because of neopets back in 2004 and I too started drawing humans because of anime/mangas I watch. At first I didn't tried to be serious nor improve my style up until a couple of years ago. Personally I, for now, don´t consider myself a furry. I do have two fursonas but both have a main human form (i still dont feel the inspiration to draw more humans yet bricked). Though I am more inclined for kemonomimis.

I wanna see more humans from you >u>

        -gives you some korean cookies-

        • Link

pschfrgh my Skype is Reisfuchs too, add me if you dare
(cause Im the worst at replying an probably will feel hurt / neglected / ignored and Im sorry in advance haha)

Which were your first mangas to read / animes to watch?

          And I draw Loki almost everyday but I'm so bad at it, I need so much practice ;w;
We should do a human art trade one day to level up our SiCk SkiLLz B)

What kind of korean cookies, show meeee I need to know w Never had korean candy I believe, why do you have such things? xD

          • Link

            ofc I dare!
rofl its okay, I am not a needy person xD
            and I already deal with such type of contacts already >u>;;;

hhrrmmm first anime I think it would be Dragon ball/Sailor moon(?) lol, but have watched a quite few animes between my favorites would be.....

I like a lot Junji Ito's works he have a great sense of creepy and a very great art style, Ghost in the shell (only ovas), Gankutsuō (based on Count of Montecristo novel, one of the most stunning and trippy artstyles I have seen. due to the way they use textures), Rurouni Kenshin, Evangelion (all the beautiful thiiinggss), Ouran Host club (I prefer the manga a lot more), Inugami, Gantz (all things), Kare Kano, Devilman (only watched the ovas), Shingeki no kyojin, Gundam Wing, Hellsing, ,Akira, Free! Iwatobi Swim club, Kuroko no basket, Slayers, Saint Seiya, Higurashi no naku koro ni, and a shit lot more but I am too lazy to remember/list up.
But I am now just a casual otaku of this subject nowwwww no longer hardcore due to adult responsabilities.

That totally sounds like a greatest plan!

Will have to take a photo when I get home then xD. I have a korean friend (lives in the US currently), she and her brother sent me a box full of korean sweets. @0@!

            • Link

Oh, DBZ was one of my first ones too! But also, MTV had animes back then, very very late at night, but such good animes! There was Hellsing, Vision of Escaflowne, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop and Lupin the third... such good times!

Whats funny, my last Manga was Junji Itos "Uzumaki", I devoured it! And I LOVED the ending omg... and I have only heard of him through tumblr, Im so glad I stumbled upon him! Evangelion and GitS are THE animes, as well as Akira, to me. I could watch them in a loop and I think it would take me a LONG time to actually get tired of them (and I actually do that with Akira since I have the DVD, I sometimes just put it in and let it run in the background, my love for it is immense!) And lets not start on Miyazaki movies, I guess everybody agrees on them xD
Kare Kano is actually a funny story for me, it was the first thing I ever binge watched and one of the two times I actually pulled of an all-nighter! I fondly remember the sun coming up and the birds starting to chirp when i watched the last episodes. But it felt so much like there should have been at least one more episode, the ending left me feeling kind of empty. And I tried watching it again a few months ago, but it wasn't nearly as funny / romantic to me as I had remembered :c
I will defo look up Gankutsuō, that sounds awesome, and I try to stay away fom SNK ad Free! since I am already obsessed with Marvel right now and I see everyday how people are sucked into those fandoms for good xD
Also, just like you, Im not that super into it anymore, but especially those old animes and mangsas I will always have a soft spot for <3 And I regularly read manga like Battle Angel Alite / Gunnm, which I will protect with my life, that manga is where most of my inspiration comes from (also that style is my goal in a way, but I'll never achieve it, I will only ever strive to be as godly as Yukito Kishiro)

Waaaah, I'm envous, I can only imagine how sweet and cute and delicious and perfect those sweets must be ;w; You are luckyyyyyyyy hehe~

              • Link

                Latin MTV didnt sadly xD
but I watched there only South Park. There was this channel called Locomotion that aired anime and some very mature western animations like Duckman.

So far my favorite story from him is that one called ""The Enigma of Amigara Fault" but the first work I saw from him was Gyo a couple of years ago (the animation) and since then I have been reading and rereading his works xD.
I do that actually lol, everytime I have some spare time I just rewatch those three (specially for Evangelion the new Rebuild series).
Miyazaki films are very at the top I need to get them aaaalll aahhhhh.

ppfffttt happened to me too when I rewatched karekano but for what I read the ending was like that because of lack of money, they just ran out of it and slapped things together xD. I have been meaning to read the mangas but so far haven't had the time.

Well this is an active journal, wow. o.o 25 and from New England, and I joined Weasyl originally 'cus of expanded music support compared to similar websites. I'm a little bit more involved these days, though. Not following you but I browse journals often, to just talk or see if people have questions and stuff. Always nice to see a bustling journal~

    • Link

I am surprised by the flow of responses I got as well, but I am more than happy about it swoons
So many people from england here, but I suppose its also because of the timezone, easier to catch europeans at this time of the day x3
Also, I L O V E your banner, what is it from if I may ask?

      • Link

Oh no, I'm from the Northeastern US, hence New England. :P The banner's also just something I found on the internet, but it really stood out and has surprisingly stayed on my page for quite awhile. It's just the right amount of moody, strange, eerie, and contemplative.

        • Link

Oh my fucking god i feel so uneducated now I THOUGHT THAT WAS A PART OF ENGLAND wheezes welp, thanks for enlightening me xD
slowly, awkwardly fades into a fog

          • Link

Ahaha, it's all good. Nope, I'm all American (well Russian, German, and Scottish background... but you know).

*yanks from fog* So, what brings you to Weasyl? /conversation

            • Link

Ooooh german, how exactly if I might ask?

I actually came with the huge bulk from fA after the zaush desaster - and stayed and never regretted one second of it. I love the calm, nice, friendly, respectful community here. Also, theres so many different artists on here, even tho fA has more artists, I think the diversity is clearer here. And the quality, as far as I can tell! I really feel totally comfortable and welcome here and I will stay, for as long as it stays this way :3 And how did you get into admin business with weasyl?

              • Link

Oh it's just ancestry and such, my mother's side (who I look like). There's also an uncommon facet to my background, but I try not to speak publicly about it haha.

I would definitely agree that we have good diversity here, even if the majority tends to lean toward furry material. Still has room to grow, and it will. I'm happy to hear you're enjoying your time so far! While a bigger userbase has its perks, I still like the small town feeling we've got going on here.

As for myself, well, I just applied to be a mod awhile back when apps were open, I suppose my general life experience helped a bunch in getting accepted since I didn't know a single person on here. I put a lot of work into the site on the user side of things and eventually got a promotion (read: more work), but I wouldn't do it if I didn't have faith that Weasyl could hold its own and establish itself. I think we do a good job with choosing staff who actually use the site and interact with others normally, so the administration here doesn't seem ominous. I mean, it's just a little work on the side, I'm a (relatively) normal person I swear. xD

...even if I'm a grumpy lionface most of the time, haha.

                • Link

Oh yes, small town feeling is the exact term for how this community feels and I love it! And of course I want the community to grow too, but also, I kind of see myself, should the day come when this site is as active as fA, when I will be all biiter like "Back in the old days, it was so much quieter and peaceful" and swing my cane at rude youths with their strange new art and stuff xD

And you seem normal enough to me, grumpy icon aside ;D Does Weasyl have a big team of admins and mods? Or is the work overwhelming at times? I actually never really noticed any issues, besides people wanting to change their names on here.

                  • Link

I'll be right there with ya. :P

Staff Page <-- everyone's there, it's a decent number. It can get overwhelming at times, yeah, especially when new updates are pushed, but generally we manage well. You're just not looking in the right places though, there are some interesting issues that arise. x3

                    • Link

Well, thats very clearly laid out. Pretty much what I expected~ And I guess with the issues it's the same like when you work in retail, you always think people must be pretty much like you, but suddenly all those rude, impatient and disrespectful people arise, they don't seem to know what manners are, and you get a whole 'nother perspective!

                      • Link

I'd say on the whole, the userbase is super awesome here. Can't let a few bad apples ruin the fun, you know? We take it all in stride, and I think the vast majority of users respect the staff here at some level.

Aaanyhoo, congrats! You've beat my most looked at/commented journal by a longshot. I can't even get people to talk this much, bwahaha. :P

                        • Link

Hell yeah, what do I get now? A cookie? Because that would be the second one for this journal xD I am still 100% baffled about the mass of responses I got? Like, I still get new comments too? But I love it, I seem to have so much in common with these people, and aaaagh it's been a rollercoaster ride of happy for me so far :D And it has been super nice talking to you, and I hope I never cause any trouble, so that, should our paths cross again, I hope you remember me well and in good spirits hehe~ passes a cookie to you

                          • Link

Enjoy it and make use of your wonderful power. :P Feel free to chat with me whenever, if you'd like~ noms cookie

I'm a 20-year-old Jersey boy, born-and-raised. Super duper hardcore nerd. Video games, comics, science, Star Wars, Pokemon, you name it. I draw a lot. I own four snakes, a pit/boxer mix, and a betta who still needs a name. Uh I like monsters and boys and gay things and monster boys doing gay things. Also applicable to robots.

I left FA because it's run by a bunch of sexist victim-blaming criminals and is populated by a bunch of racist, homophobic (and heterophobic too actually), transphobic, sexist, victim-blaming, self-entitled, overly fetish-izing shitheads :D Similarly, I'll hopefully be leaving for Canada soon because the US is run by a bunch of rich sexist victim-blaming criminals and is populated by a bunch of racist, homophobic (and heterophobic too actually), transphobic, sexist, victim-blaming, self-entitled, overly fetish-izing shitheads :D -thumbs up- Unfortunately I had to go back to FA for the publicity/commission work. Hopefully that won't be the case with America.

    • Link

OMG Nerd-High-Five please! xD Which comics do you read if I might ask? I just very recently totally got into Marvel / Thor because of Thor 2, and I am so obsessed , it's beyond comprehension. My little 1-room apartment slowly turns into a Loki shrine cries

I had a good laugh at the last part, its so sad and so true for the most part unfortunately. I have never been to the US but after everything I have heard so far, I would be sooooo worried all the time about getting harassed, catcalled, mistreated in any way and stuff. And tho that happens in germany too, I feel like it must be 100x worse in the US.... BUT Im gonna visit for sure when my best friend moves overseas, so I will get to build my own opinion then. And I will try to stay open-minded and positive for as long as I can x3
fA on the other hand is lost, and if there weren't so many artists I adore that just can't afford to move, I wouldn't even look anymore. I still comment there tho from time to time and I still interact with said artists and some (very few) people.

      • Link

HELL YEAH HIGH FIVE! I don't really read to many actual comics so much as dive into the comic universe, if that makes sense? Like, I don't have the time or money to figure out what order I'm supposed to read them in and when crossovers happen and which issues of another series I need to understand what's going on here, track down all those issues, buy them, and then read them XD But I love the MCU, the Arkham game series (though I'm falling behind on it), and just enjoying the fandom. I think....the only series I've actually diligently read was Nightwing from like....1995ish (whenever it was that he cut off the ponytail mid-fight lol) to the New52 (which I refuse to even acknowledge for so, so many reasons). I started reading Ultimate Spider-man (because seriously, my Spidey boner is huuuuuge) but....I don't remember why I didn't continue, but I didn't continue lol

I have such a love-hate relationship with DC though, man. Like....I like DC's character and world better than Marvel, but Marvel is just.....such a better company. Marvel makes all these super bold progressive moves and DC just kinda struggles along with half-assed matches like "LOOK I CAN DO THAT TOO" and then goes and kills off the fan favorites and reworks them into something completely out-of-character (totally not bitter about Grayson). I'm actually trying to boycott DC just cuz I'm sick of giving them money to fuck up my favorite characters :/

I feel you on the Loki thing though man. For me it started with Avengers. I literally have a wall of Loki. It's like 4 or 5 posters I got at Comic Con a few years ago, Tom Hiddleston's autograph on a picture of Loki, and a very intentionally placed bronze statue of a horse. I was gonna buy the Hot Toys figure but there was an issue with the payment and...yeah that didn't happen. Oh well.

Yup, the US sucks. I can't believe the entire younger generations haven't just up and left. I like some of the things in the US, but I hate the way things are run here. It's fucking disgusting. I do hope (and believe) you'll enjoy your visit, though. It's really only shitty if you live here XD Like I said, a lot of cool stuff is located here, especially as far as tourism goes. I wouldn't worry too much <3

        • Link

I never really actively or consciously saw anything DC besides Batman, and loved the Joker to bits of course! Other than that, I was never invested in them, so anything I got was more or less here-say. But I'm pretty much content with what marvel does, so I'm not really looking into it. So much drama going on between those too sheesh x3 And I will look into New52 and Nightwing cause I actually never heard of that! uwu

          hisses with enviousness
Oh my god, if you are ever, by any chance, looking to get rid of the posters (Essssspecially the signed thing HOW DID YOU GET THAT) I am totally up for it xD And I actually got myself the Hot Toys Avengers Loki, which was 500 motherfucking-I-will-never-spend-that-much-money-on-anything-again-dollars FRick..... and I am already thinking about getting the limited Loki with the Aether ;w; I need to slap myself hard to not buy it sobs Let's cry together over him...? TTwTT

When I come back from the US, however far away in the future that might be, I will try to remember to tell you about it, would be nice coming back to you with positive things, but so much super strange stuff has happened to me already, I bet I will have some good creeper stories too haha xD Thank you for the insight tho, I really love talking about it with ~insiders~ :D

          • Link

NO GOD DON'T LOOK INTO NEW 52. DC basically just took everything you know and love from the past 20 years of comics and went "lol NOPE NEVER HAPPENED KISS IT ALL GOODBYE" and made all the characters different and some of them don't exist anymore and just...ugh. It's terrible. Terrible. Spare yourself.

Nightwing, on the other hand....yes, definitely look into him XD He's actually Dick Grayson (yknow, the original Robin?) all grown up and so, so pretty. And he's kinda like.....the DC equivalent of Steve Rogers, in terms of morals and personality. He's the guy everybody wants to be. And he's 10 times better than Batman. In fact every part of the Batfamily except Bruce is better than Batman. They're all way more interesting and infinitely less infuriating than Bruce Wayne is.

UUUUUGHGGGGHHHHGHGHGH okay the autograph was just a thing that was up on ebay for like $75 so I was like hell yeah gimme dat shit. The posters were....from an artist on Deviantart I could probably pull up. With the Hot Toys Loki....I actually preordered it and had it ready to go and everything, but they kept delaying the release for like a fucking year, and then I THOUGHT I had already paid for it when I sent in my order but APPARENTLY NOT so by the time he was ready to ship I was out of money. I was SO angry.

So uhm.....what's this about a limited Loki with the Aether? >_>

Hahah no problem <3 I look forward to hearing about your misadventures.

          • Link

Here, found her. Okay the only two I can find are this one and this one (the one on the right), but I have one other by her I can't find and one by another artist

            • Link

              Welp, first things first, the limited Loki with a 1/6th scale Aether has been rumored to have a better face than the one from TDW, that was just a thing on tumblr though where that was the source and there isn't much information?! Im sure you have seen the TDW Hot Toys pictures and I thought that doesn't look like Loki at all. But these pictures just made my heart ache with want! So I am really pondering getting that figure in hopes of a good Loki face haha ;w;

Gosh, I can just imagine the anger and frustration pats back Also.... just judging from the posters.... whispers like a dealer in a back alley ... any chance you ship Thorki...? <w<

Also Im kinda envoius you got into Avengers already, I feel like such a late bloomer sobs I loved the movie but I never got so invested in it :C

              • Link

uuuuUUUUGHHHH NO I NEED TO KEEP MY MONEY FUUUUUUCK when is this supposed to come out? I need Loki in handcuffs and then I can go buy the muzzle thing from the Avengers one and chain him to the bronze horse statue and-....I mean.....what >_>

AHEM yes. Yes I am. Now if I can do the above and have Thor standing over him looking like a smug little bitch, my life will be complete lol

Hahah it's okay, I felt the same way with Avengers actually. I was like "Iron Man's cool but everyone loved Thor and Hulk and I just thought they were okay and I haven't even seen Captain America yet and I don't really get why everybody loves this Loki guy he's not that-.....o-oh. oh my. I think I need to change my underwear."

And now I can watch Thor and Avengers on an endless loop and never get tired of them :D

                • Link

I wish I had more info on it? Like, I saw this on ebay and it has some of the photos of the good version and some of the bad version? So I will stay tuned but not act yet (actually wrote them a message right now). The tumblr post I initially saw was from a few days ago and said something along the lines of "will be sold soon" or send out soon or smth?! I wish I had faved it grumbles
If I happen to hear anything new though, I will sure as heck keep you posted :D

Ffffff to me it was similar :D I mean, the scene on the ship when they are on their way to Malekith in Swartalfheim, my heart was like beating very fast and I was getting these strange (shippy) feelings inside xD And after the movie I was so confused, I didn't know how I could actually ship them? So I got onto the internet, and holy moly am I glad about all the stuff that I found!!! snorts

I'm a 20 year old derp from the flatlands of the USA! :D... I'm from the Chicago area; the only area in the world where corn outnumbers everyone to a 10 to 1 ratio. I dunno if that's true or not but it certainly seems like the case...!

I came to Weasyl after becoming upset with the way other art sites are run, and was pleasantly surprised with how the community was. So I stuck around and I've been active only here ever since. I basically joined the bandwagon that came across when the FA controversy broke out, though I had a profile here for awhile. How'd you end up with Weasyl becoming your main profile? :3

    • Link

Welp, same situation here, came because of the Zaush drama, stayed for good! I must say that I feel so much more welcome, acknowledged and appreciated here, i mean, the comments on this journal alone tell a story about that! I could hardly ever get any activity out of fA, even having double the watchers! So, its Quality, not Quantity, and Weasyl made that 100% clear, I got A+ followers on here <3 I'm definately not going back!!! :3 Thank yooou <3

  • Link

Hello!~ 24 year old American student here. :3 Came over from FA, and I enjoy how things are over here. I'm currently working towards finding my style and refining my techniques, but I'm also interested in helping out others and meeting awesome folks. :D

    • Link

Yay, well, Weasyl seems the perfect place to meet awesome folks for sure! And finding your own style is hard, so much practice needed ;w; What got you into drawing / art in the frist place?

      • Link

Yeah, it certainly seems that way. X3 I was originally inspired by Squaresoft's works, in terms of character and monster designs, environments, etc. It was certainly a dream of mine (and still is!) to become a freelance concept artist of some sort for the video game industry. That said, over the years I've also developed a fondness for creating more introspective and thematic works (not posted here... Well. Yet. :S) that lie in the area of Fine Arts. Not that that is a bad thing, but that whole area is definitely something that piques my interests as well. :3

How about you? Where did you start?

  • Link

Hi! I like this journal idea.
I'm a Canadian dragon and I hang out here as opposed to FA now too :> I also really dig the community.

Do you have any pets/if you could have any pet, what would it be?

    • Link

Aaaah, hi Magnus, I love your works, so happy to have you here~
I wish I had pets ;w; I had rats when I was a teenager and I miss them so much still! It's 5 years now since the last one passed and I still can't get over how much I loved them... I still have dream about them and sometimes imagine what damage they would have done to my current belongings by now xD RIP cables, books, doors, couch...
I really really want to adopt something, a cat, a weasyl, all the rats, but I visit my hometown at least twice a year, usually over a period of two weaks, and there is no way I can get a good caretaker for them. Nor would I want to... my mother was in charge of them when I was younger and she just simply let two of them die. When I asked if she didn't realize that my room smelled like death, she just shrugged and said that she hadn't checked on them :c No way I would trust anybody but myself with my bbs again.

Welp, do you have pets? What are your fave animals? Is there any cool animals you are allowed to keep in canada, that are usually not pets or forbidden in other countries? :D

      • Link

Aw that's rough. I always wanted rats, but I lived in a province of Canada where they were they are illegal to own for most of my life. So I had guinea pigs for a while instead! Super cute but not as smart as ratties, I hear.

I do have a pet currently! I have a corgi named Kanye West and he's an excellent dog (and my first dog that I've owned on my own). Thankfully when I go away I have a good kennel I send him too, that's tougher to do with rodents/small pets x__x

My favorite animal? GOSH THAT IS SO HARD....probably reptiles and birds. And bats. Okay that's three but I'm okay with cheating for the sake of animal favs XD
Canada's pet laws are pretty strict actualy. I mean, like I mentioned above, you can't even own a rat in Alberta. I know exotic pets of any wildlife that is naturally occurring in Canada is typically illegal too (so like bears, raccoons, etc). We do have elk farms but that's with a farming licence. Pretty sure you can't just have a pet elk lol.

        • Link

Woah, I never thought rats could be illegal? And I honestly expected canada to be totally cool about raccoons or stuff! Welp, the more you know, thats interesting! A pet elk would be so cool though haha, they always looks so huge and clumsy x3

My fave animals are also a frickin palette xD Bats are pretty high up though! But yeah, obviously rats and also I really like foxes. Nothing special there x3 And theres only very very few animals that I don't like. I really actually hate fruit flys tho, especially now in the summer, I feel like they always surround me when Im eating fruit, it makes me crazy =w=

(Had a good laugh at your dog being named Kanye West tho... WHY???!? xD)

  • Link

Hiiii first off I really like that pic you did of our Natty Batty <3

Heeeey, so happy you like her <3 It's actually one I enjoyed the most ^^ I really like bats and I regret not drawing them more often!

I am goth as well, yeeee high fives but no real direction (tho I have been told that batcave is pretty much the closest to what I got going on). Are you allowed to wear your attire anywhere or do you have to have extra outfits for like work or such? And do you have piercings and tattoos if I may ask? :3

I came to weasyl because I like checking out new art sites, and also this is a project I had been following for a while. I like a quieter, more art focused place that actually listens and cares about it's users. Oh! and having the character section is a plus. I also use DA, Tumblr, Draw Crowd a little. I had a Nabyn but stopped updating after the creator abandoned it.

I follow your stuff cus I really like your facial style in your furry type, non-human characters. They have such well rendered faces/muzzles at any position you put the head in, it looks so good u_u You also have lovely traditional medium rendering.

    • Link

Thank you so much for your kind words ;w; That means a LOT to me!!!
And yeah, the character section is a blessing, also the folder system. And I like DA and Tumblr too, but this site is ideal right now!

I'm a broken introverted hermit with three wonderful partners who treat me as I should be treated. I spend most of my time sitting in the yard with my chickens, reading and watching cartoons. I adore people as a whole despite the evil in the world, and especially my close friends & loved ones and would do ANYthing to make/keep them feel safe and happy.

I'm polyfidelitous, demisexual and pansexual with mild gender confusion, but gender is meaningless to me so it doesn't bother me much. I don't care if people call me she/he/they/it or whatever else. I feel it's difficult to identify as one gender or another without considering their stereotypes, which shouldn't even exist in the first place, so I just consider myself a sometimes feminine, sometimes masculine and sometimes neither, but I don't really even feel comfortable with that, because feminine/masculine suggest stereotypes as well. Why are flowers feminine? Why is football masculine? If you really think about it, it makes no sense.

I have BPD, AiWS, depression & anxiety issues which all merge together to create emotions so intense I can barely control them, but I've been getting better and better at controlling them over the years and I'm quite proud of myself for it, because I'm doing it for me more than anyone else. People have made me feel like a monster, threatened to discard me/blackmail me into going to therapy, and even made me feel that if I don't get along super-well with certain people, they'll end the friendship. I got sick of trying to change just to keep people like this around, because they really didn't deserve me at my best if they couldn't show me love and support at my worst and most miserable points. Change just doesn't work unless you're doing it for -you- first and foremost.

I'm more self-aware than many who claim to be, and regardless of the people from my past who insist on otherwise, I know I am a strong, passionate, intelligent, good person worth knowing, and a damn-loyal and honest friend. The quote "Never waste your time trying to explain who you are to people who are committed to misunderstanding you" changed my life; one of the biggest lessons I've learned the past two years and it's kept me alive.

I suppose I got a little deep and exposing here, but they're big and important parts of me, and you are awesome, so I wanted to share. <3 I'd love to learn more about you as well. ^^

Ahhh, thank you so much for that in-depth answer! I am very glad to be worthy of your trust! I will try to do you justice and show you some things about myself as well - and we have far more in common than I thought / already knew!!! :D

I have been in a poly BDSM relationship for the past one and a half years. I have a Master and a Mistress, they are the first BDSM and poly relationship I had, so it was quite the experience. Unfortunately somehow the contact broke off in April - I have no idea what happened (he has had heart problems and was in hospital thrice for the time we've been together :C). I miss my Master a lot, I dream constantly of him. I never 100% clicked with my Mistress though, since she lives far away. I only ever saw her 10 times or such :c It was by far the happiest and healthiest relationship I have had. sighs

So I am pansexual, can be poly, can be mono, whatever comes my way, I always put huge pressure on myself and have a hard time relaxing / letting go unfortunately though. And I am 100% on board on your opinion regarding gender. I don't care what people call me, I am happy with whatever. And though I love my boobs, I wouldn't mind a peen and a flat chest :D I would've been good with whatever. I usually just identify with female, cause it's easy and as I said, in the end it doesn't matter after all. I don't fit any stereotypes anyway.

(I don't know if this part is triggery, so tread with caution maybe? I'm sorry ;w;)
Oh about mental illnessess... sighs heavily I reeeeeally need to see a therapist, but I just really can't get myself to do that step. Alas, I'm not diagnosed with things, but I know the terms for some of the stuff thats up with me. I have repressed memories of very traumatic events for example, and twice it happened already that I was like "BAM remember THAT?!?!?" and I am entirely so extremely scared of that happening again :CCC I can't begin to describe how that has changed me everytime. Also, huge depression issues, was suicidal for years and years on end. I hurt myself and have been doing so for pretty much as long as I can think? When i was a child I usually bit myself till the skin turned blue and I sometimes scratched my arms until I couldn't feel my skin anymore. Didn't get any better from there on of course. Uuuuugh and so much more stuff, I am sorry if thats too personal already Dx

WELL onto happy stuffs - I think that I am also very self aware. I know how to keep myself away from people that do me harm - I can't exactly burn the bridges with my abusers unfortunately, but I see them once or twice a year, so I can manage. Besides that, I live a very happy life now, have a stable income and stable work, the very best boss one could wish for, which goes for my co-workers as well, I am surrounded by nice people and friends basically! I have a cute little one room apartment, many plants and lots of art supplies and books xD

I wish I could have chickens like you! It's one of my dreams to own a few chickies when I'm older. I have no pets right now though, since I don't feel like I could properly care for them working full time. And when I get into one of my depressive bouts I fear I would neglect them :c I am 100% envious of your beautiful home and chickens and life though, and you deserve all of that wonderful stuff (and more!!!) <3

    Yooooo
I'm 23, cis-female, and from Austin TX, now I live in Colorado.I have a pomeranian-mix named Irene. I'm currently attending an art school in CO so I can (hopefully) become a concept artist for video games and/or movies o

I made an account on Weasyl when I first heard about it in 2012? I think?? I thought there was a section on my profile that says when I joined but I can't find such a detail rn so… I think 2012? Maybe earlier…
I like joining new art networks, it's an interesting way to find new artists, and an easy way for me to share my artwork and hope it gets a variety of views.

I returned to using Weasyl in late 2013 because of all the stuff that was going on FA, and I like the small community here. The smaller size feels really refreshing to me, especially when I feel like I'm drowning in sheer quantity AND quality of other artists work on tumblr and FA. Finally, it's a general art site, so I feel better about having both furry work and my watercolor stuff in the same profile :3

What song is currently stuck in your head?

      Hi Friday :D
I wish you the best for artschool and everything that comes afterwards. I hear its a hard road!

I just made an account after all the Zaush drama over on FA. Don't regret a single second! Also moved for good, as of right now, Weasyl is the only art community I use. I love how cozy and small it all still is, it makes everything more personal and I often feel like I'm just in an insanely huge group of friends, casually hanging out :)

I'm currently listening to some old Wolfsheim albums from around 1996, I don't expect you to know them xD Especially "Upstairs" is stuck in my head right now.

How did you come to your username Friday? I mean, everybody loves Fridays haha, but is there a special meaning to it?

Thanks! It’s pretty challenging, I wouldn't say because it's too difficult, just keeping myself from not dropping out and finish the damn degree plan. I have a lot of ideas and things I want to try out, and I'd really rather not be writing papers at 23.

I still use FA sometimes, mostly because I have some tiny sliver of hope that maybe someone will want to commission me eventually if I update there occasionally. Also some of my friends only post art on FA, so I log in to check up on their art.
Dang, the community here sounds lovely and cozy, kind of like having a little club. I should try harder to be active on here :3

You are correct in that I haven't heard of Wolfshein, although thanks to spotify I have a chance to check them out. I took a couple of years of German in High School, so I only know a handful of German words now lol. I do enjoy the overall sound though :3

You're the first to ask that question! My RL name is pretty dang common, first and last name. So to avoid confusion I usually go by my username, or a nickname when I'm online.
The name Friday came from my tumblr url fridayiminlooove, which is a reference to The Cure song Friday I'm in Love. A couple of years ago when I was listening to that song, I started daydreaming about "what if every day of the week was personified?" and almost immediately after asking myself that, I thought something like "I'd make a pretty good Friday, someone who works hard, and is easily excitable, but is impatiently waiting for a break to relax as well". Plus, Friday sounds pretty cute overall, is easy to spell & remember, and isn’t used that often as a nickname on the Internet. Or at least, I haven’t seen that many people use days of the week as nicknames lol

I'm still active on FA for the different artists I watch. Unfortunately many went back to FA or don't really keep their Weasyl profile updated, so I would miss a bunch, would I not go back to at least comment and such. But yeah, Weasyl is exteremely cozy and welcoming so far <3 The upside to a small community.

Thats a cute namestory! I love the Cure but honestly I always hated that song! xD I heard it on the radio SO many times, I just really can't listen to it xD But now I'll think of you when I hear it x)

lol it's okay, I understand, at this point I'm not anywhere near as fond of that song as I used to be X3
            Aww thanks :33!
(sorry for the delay in responding @o@;; school has kept me very busy!)
