NOTHING LIKE BUYING A NEW TABLET ONLY TO HAVE LAPTOP SAY 'LOLZ SCREEN DISCOLORATION GONNA HAPPEN NOW TIL YOU OPEN ME UP AND FIX CONNECTIONS'
'CAUSE WHY NOT MORE ISSUES
It's been like this for awhile but after moving the screen a bit it tends to fix itself. This time seems permanent though :| Opened up the monitor and tried to wiggle some wires to find a loose connection but sadly...it's the one connected to the motherboard. SO GOTTA PAY SOMEONE TO DO THAT.
That's so weird. Are you on a PC or a laptop? And waaattttt more money TAT -watches the dollah bills take flight-
Laptop. My worst fear is that the LCD screen is dying, which is cheap to buy a replacement, but going to be not so fun to do the actual replacing part.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/p0lqtshduxouoeo/IMG718.jpg What it looks like when I turn it on. It's not AS bad when it goes to the desktop, but there's just red boxes all over. And the white looks blue. And it flickers.
Urgh no it isn't. It's a huge hassel and a lot of prying. I watched a tutorial the other day on removing the screen on a Dell Latitude... it looks... dangerous. And I used to build PCs! LOL
Holy crap you weren't kidding! That's some serious issue right there. When it comes to LCD screens sometimes it's cheaper and easier to buy a new screen, yeah? (just like how laptop keyboards are cheap and replaceable)
And right after you just got a nice spanking new tablet. What a pain in the ass.
Hmmm I've seen some screens go for pretty cheap though. Especially on ebay but I'm always wary of anything electronic I buy from ebay. There are a few factory direct stores out here that sell them cheap too (I'm not sure about where you are since I'm not in the States and it can be a whole different ball game down there). I'm sure there are cheap places to pick up some parts, yeah?
Do you have any other computer to use while you dismantle this poor old sod?
No :( I mean my b/f has two laptops I could borrow - one has a dead fan and needs to run with a laptop cooler, and the other is his backup for when he renders stuff...but meh. I looked up two places that are local for in-store repair. One has a flat fee of 120 (unless parts are needed then it might be more), the other I emailed for a quote. SO. we'll see.
I don't want to open the motherboard up because there are parts to the speakers that can get easily damaged with this particular build, and I'm not skilled enough to do that x.x So we shall see this week.
Ahhh! I hate it when the fan breaks. Replacing that thing is also murder (since I have to dig to get to it)
HOLY CRAA--KEN! $120 bucks? Really wishing the other guy will give you a much better estimate (then again I'm not sure if all of them know what they're doing as they told me my previous hard drive from my Acer laptop couldn't be saved but I did some research and turned it into an external hard drive, the nerve, I swear they just like watching all the color drain from your face as you just lost 200gbs of music and about 2 volumes of your webcomic). Tch. It shouldn't cost that much. Even though laptops are finicky lil sods.. :| I should get into that business. Might be able to pay off the school loans for that crappy animation school I went to... -cough- ANYWAY!
Wishing you lots and lots of luck!!!!
OOHHHH Yours is a Dell too, right? (I think we had this convo about our broken laptops before, yes? My gods my memory sucks meatballs)
I'm crossing my toes wishing this all to go well. ヽ(゚Д゚)ノ
My personal one is actually an Asus. The Dell's are used by the rest of the fam. Just found out my dad actually replaced the motherboards in them and that's partly why they run better now. O.o
Dad also looked at the laptop - deleting the drivers, updating them, and updating the bios along with other things fixed the issue. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW SOMETHING SO AWFUL COULD BE FIXED SO EASILY.
