[Art] Master Studies by ScruffPuff

Good evening, everyone!

It's July now, and with that, I'm excited to announce a pet project that will be kicking off right this moment - since it's the start of the month and all that. :3

The main idea behind this is that I'll be studying (with permission of course) under a different artist every month for about 3 months. I'll be working on Master Studies of 2-3 of their works, hoping to finish one per week, and when the last week comes around - I'll be taking what I've learned and creating a composition of my own in a similar style.

The main purpose of this is to learn in a style that's like those who studied under the master painters back then. I see this as being beneficial for both parties, as hopefully I can refer to them for critique, and vice versa. Credit will be given, as it's only courteous to do so.

It's definitely a way to keep me motivated and working consistently. And I'm hoping that after a few months of this, I will have found a style that I can be content with. If not, then all is not lost, as ultimately I believe this will assist me in growing as a digital artist. :3

That said, I'd like to introduce and thank the artist that I'll be studying under for this month: Whendigo!~ Go check out his works if you haven't already! :3

    Sounds like a good idea!
I was planning on doing something simillar at some point, but maybe more from dead artists, because it seems that a lot of person really are againt copy. :/

I’ll be following your progress and hope it’ll go well. :D

Thank you! I was considering starting out that way too, but I decided that I wanted some feedback as I was progressing along. And you can't quite do that with dead folks. XP I still might incorporate a month of studying some old impressionists though. Always had a thing for Van Gogh's techniques~ On a side note though, I don't think artists would be against it so long as you ask for permission and don't plan on selling the studies. Or maybe they might just say no, that's really the worst that could happen if you ask.

Awesome! I wish you all the best on this, & hopefully you'll learn quite a lot studying under someone. :3 Hmm, I checked out their profile but they've got nothing uploaded. XD

Thank you for the encouragement! :3 And my error, it seems he's content with an FA and Tumblr page for now. Bit of a shame that he removed his things on Weasyl though. :(
