Need Some Opinions by Muck
Considering going back to FA. I really don't want to, but I might have to. Especially if my queue continues to be dry as a bone. I have issues with FA, but I can't deny the fact that it has a huge user base.
If I do return, I really don't want to continue under the username of Bizaara. However, on that account I have over 1000 watchers, and I don't know if I'd be able to gain that many watchers on a new account.
Ugh, internal struggle. I don't know what to do.

Is it bad that I feel like one of those furries that goes "I'M LEAVING 5EVA" then afterwards goes "Lol jk I'm back"?
sigh Dunno how to feel about knowing other people had to do the same. :( As long as FA is alive, and Weasyl still has Beta, it's like a no win situation.

It's not just the Beta. Apparently the average user feels like Weasyl is a site that only caters to artists, whereas they perceive FA as catering to everyone. I think the Collections system might honestly have something to do with it. Not only does Weasyl need to get out of Beta, but it needs to find a way to make itself more attractive for commissioners and fans to use.

Hmm, I can see why that would hinder things. There needs to be better options out there or something, because this being between a rock and a hard place isn't fun

Maybe try posting previews of some of your art on FA, with links back to the full version on Weasyl?
I've been doing that and it seems to work pretty well for me. I also post YCH sketches on FA, but only put the finished ones on Weasyl.-
That's what I plan on doing, when I get around to finishing some art lol.

I'll do that. In the mean time, I'm uploading already completed artwork. MAYBE, that'll work. But on FA, I get ignored a lot. So I dunno how much good that will do me. We shall see.

A lot of background stuff with FA seems to be getting worse, so anything we can do to encourage off of it is a good idea. Is tough with so many people still wanting to move though, haha. @_@-
Then there are some people that think everyone who moves to Weasyl is a traitor. Definitely will do that though, especially if it'll help with the user base growth

Uggh, yeah, those people. Thankfully most of the ones I've personally seen do that tend to be people that don't commission me much anyways.
And yes, anything to help this place grow. :D

I'd definitely recommend staying active here, too. Stay active on every site, then you'll keep building a fan base for when and if another art site goes down. I suck at maintaining it, but for a while when I'd submit art, I'd have FA, dA, Weasyl, VCL, Tumblr AND facebook open in different tabs and just upload it to every single site. It's a pain in the ass but I think if you at least post SOMEthing here every few weeks, say 50% of your best stuff bi-weekly or so (depending on your output of course), it would be enough.

I try to do that, but sometimes I do forget upload to a site 6n9; that's my own fault. I post to dA, FA, and Facebook. I have an art Tumblr, but I generally forget about it and it has 0 followers lol Gotta remember to keep up with it.
That sounds like a good median for posting rate. I don't produce enough output to post really often, but I should really kick it up a notch. Hmm, yes yes! This is good advice. Thank you :D

New watcher here, found you through Weasyl and not intending to follow you on FA. For me, being active there {commenting, posting, following} would lend it support which I don't intend to provide it while predators are running the show. If that means I miss out on occasional new artists, so be it: the average here is better than over there, and the place seems considerably freer of total shitheels for some reason.
I don't take commissions (no way am I skilled enough or dedicated enough to finish my stuff up and generate any sort of momentum), so I have no commercial reason to touch the place. My opinion probably isn't worth very much in this game, but I wouldn't consider anyone keeping a tailored, distanced presence in a disagreeable place for commercial reasons while not making it the cornerstone of their online presence to necessarily have made a poor ethical choice.

I would much prefer it if I could operate strictly out of Weasyl or dA. I'm trying to work my way up to it. I tried before, but right now it isn't the best way to go for me. Predators running the show, and FA being run by shitstains is what really drove me here. Unfortunately, constantly throwing myself out there trying to snag commissions (on here or dA) gets me nowhere. I'm not sure what the tactic for this site is on getting commissioners, but I would really like to know. Until then I'm stuck using FA as a base of operations because that's where I started out and that's where I've been amassing watchers for 4 years.
I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. Until things kick up for me here, I'm doomed to use FA. Which makes me sad and frustrated, and ends with me sounding way too desperate.
