Tales of Vesperia by Krio
is such a good game omgggg
I went into playing it sorta half heartedly bc Phantasia blew me away back in the day and I absolutely loved it but I was pretty lukewarm to Symphonia when I played it and that one seemed to be the popular one so I didnt know what to expect.
But ahhhhh if I love the characters in a game I'll automatically be biased towards everything else and I really like Vesperia's characters =v=;;; Especially Yuri!
He's gotta be one of my top 5 video game protags hands down, he pretty much broke outta the mold of "hero character" I came to expect from the Tales series and a lot of rpgs in general and it totally works for him.
Totally diggin Estelle and Raven's character designs as well. Plus it's hella refreshing to have no added underlying romance plot (went in thinking Estelle and Yuri would be flirting half the game) and the the canon "crushes" both seem to be Rita/Estelle and Yuri/Flynn which I am totes behind 100% yes what good ;v;
wahh and just finished the Captain Schwann battle and had a massive attack of feels along with genuine surprise bc I honestly didn't see that coming (currently on the Heracles so the feels have died down but still)
and just wahhhhhh I wish it had an anime OTL;;;

yeah I'm bummed that it seems the localizing of the Tales series just seems to be all over the place in general @A@ gotta hop skip and jump consoles just to try and keep up with the bit that's out there OTL.
And omg thank you for the heads up!! I'm only really using walkthroughs/guides for artes,cooking and secret missions so I wouldve totally missed this ;v;/-
I'm still surprised they actually announced Hearts R being localized!
Another thing that's also worth bringing up: When you go to fight Gauche and Droite, BRING REPEDE. Their swords are stealable weapons for Estelle and are the only weapons that teach her the helpful but costly Rebirth skills.

it's a hit a miss when it comes ro the series and getting games on a console you have, alas the only other tales I'm going to be able to play is Abyss for the ds. Eventually when I try my hand at getting one playstation or another I'll be able to play more. /but consoles are expensive so that's a long ways too come =v=;;;

Thinking about more, all of the main series (mothership) games were originally released or ported to a Sony console/handheld at some point in time (Tempest and Dawn of the New World are escort titles).
Cool thing about the dolls is that in the PS3 version if you collected all of them an NPC gives you an attachment to wear all 9 of them at once! You also needed them to unlock everyone's winter costumes. My usual party in the 360 version is Estelle (me), Raven, Rita, anyone else (usually Yuri), and my PS3 party being Flynn (me), Estelle, Patty, and Raven/Rita.
One more thing I should bring up (I need to stop doing that), the game doesn't tell you this... but another prerequisite to unlock the 200 man melee is to clear the 100 man melee with 3 different characters. A prerequisite they DO tell you about is the 3 letters of challenge (but not where to get them), Nan gives you one at Keiv Moc later on, Gauche and Droite give you another for beating them. I'll keep quiet about the final one since that one is very hard to miss (and to prevent spoilers).

It was one the of the first games I bought on my own aha, after sell artwork at a school event. ;v;I love all the characters, but Duke is my overall fave. (Long white hair?? sold )

Duke is hella fly omg so cool!!! Phantasia was actually one of the first rpgs I ever played (if you don't count pokemon sapphire) so I've been trying to follow the Tales series when I can bc I absolutely loved the gameplay/storyline/world in it. But Vesperia is so awesome 2 and I love the characters in it and just dkdndkfnfb yes A++++

asfsfgskjh I need to replay that game so bad. I haven't played it since it came out... like what... 5 years ago or something???? asfsgfj uuuhg it's been so long but fuck Yuri's character still haunts me I absolutely love him. Have you had a chance to play Symphonia yet??

yup played Symphonia a few years back and for some reason it just didn't click with me like Phantasia or Vesperia. Idk it's probs bc I wasn't the biggest fan of Lloyd or Colette. Absolutely ADORED Genis, Raine and Zelos though =v= Yuri is my presh babu 4 ever okay it is a fact. I love him too much OTL;;;

Colette.... uuuhg... yeah I wanted to slap her quite a bit and was really thankful when she wasn't in the game lol I absolutely loved Zelos, Sheena, and... well most of the second disk cast lol I came to really adore Lloyd... just really really hate his name XP

Vesperia's been my favorite since I played during college, shame we'll never get the PS3 version. Raven's such a hottie, though. <3

Vesperia is BY FAR my favorite Tales game, and easily one of my top 5 favorite games of all time. I've beaten it about 6 times.

lol I can say the same about Phantasia for me. Right now character wise Vesperia trumps Phantasia
but world/gameplay wise Phantasia trumps Vesperia bc the time traveling and unicorn riding just really sold it for me in Phantasia XD I haven't finished Vesperia yet so we'll see if it stays that way !

Glad you're enjoying it so far! Still a shame they have no plans to localize the PS3 version.
This is also worth mentioning since you're getting close to that point, be sure to go to Phaeroh's Crag before you fight Alexei! The scenes there are mandatory to unlock the bonus dungeon and the 200 man melee and can't be accessed after beating him.
