Thoughts on OCs with canon characters? by PheeBaDohDoh
I'm just wondering what you guys views are on the matter, since it seems to be a biased situation. Then again, it may also depend on the art site thats in use, it seems.
The reason I ask is because of the things I noticed. For example, I've seen artists both 'not so good' and with better quality on DA and FA who draw their own sonas with a character from a series, only to be bashed and bullied until they stop or leave the site all together. But then there are artists like 0r0ch1 who draws his sona with canon characters from series, yet get no back lash at all (atleast public backlash, like others would).
Why do you think that is? What are your thoughts if someone draws their sona or OC with a canon character from a fandom?

yeah, i kinda assumed he does get bothered with it, just not publicly and he doesnt care. and wow really? I knew he drew 0r0 and other's sona/ocs before sexually but hes done so without permission? kinda creepy, I thought the 'jokeing' lolipedo stuff with the CMC was bad

I'm guilty of this. Drawing OC's with canon characters.
My own personal opinion is to fit your character into what works with the canon. If your OC is a SPACE WOLF dating a YE OLDE FANTASY CHARACTER, change your SPACE WOLF to work in the fantasy world; maybe he's a peasant now. Consider it an AU.
How does their relationship makes sense? What's the story? If there's logic behind the ship, go for it. That's my reasoning if you draw them ALOT... if you just wanna try something once, there's no need to care.I dunno. I'm like, the OC/canon shipping queen and while I do feel horribly afraid that people will hate me for doing it, I do it anyway... because it makes me so darn happy. I invest a lot of myself into it (emotion, time, effort), and while there are people who will be bothered, there will always be people that like it too.

I'm honestly super guilty of it too sobs grossly. I just never do it publicly. Mostly doodles and RPs with my girlfriend with OCs we've made. Though I try my hardest to make an OC that fits in with the genre/fandom and not like, OP or marry sue.
My most common are probably my MARVEL OCs, derp.

Well, see, the thing about 0r0 is that he's a shithead who doesn't care about anything. IIRC it's not uncommon for him to draw porn of other people's personal characters without asking for permission first. People do bitch, but it hasn't made him stop, and there are allegedly actually people out there that edit out his character from pictures he draws with the canon characters lmao.
Generally, it's seen as 'unacceptable' to share publicly, but I say go for it if you really wanna. Worst case scenario, you just don't post them, NBD.
