Ever since opening my Weasyl account, I've been getting some friend requests from folks who I don't know anything about, have never talked to before, etc. This leads me to believe that there might be some confusion as to how the social aspect of the weasyl site is supposed to work.... maybe?
As far as I know, you don't want to simply make everyone your friend because there might be times when you want to make a journal or a submission post only viewable to your friends, who should supposedly be folks you really like and have some sort of connection with.
So for those of you whom have been sending me friend requests that I haven't accepted, the answer is no. It's not because I'm an asshole or anything, it's just because I don't know you. If you're interested in being certain you catch everything that I post, that's what the "follow user" function is for, but friend requests are only accepted if I know who you are, we have some sort of relationship, etc. In other words, get to know me first and then we'll see about being Weasyl friends. :)
Glad we got that sorted out!
The friend system really should only be used as it was intended: as a way to keep in touch with your true friends. As a way of separating your friends from watchers and other users. I get friend requests from people I've never spoken to, but I have to deny them out of principle.
If they want to friend me, they'll have to get to know me first.
