So, what's been up with me lately? by ArthurDTayra

I've been less active on the internet lately. A few reasons for this.

The morning of the 27th, my eye felt as though something had poked it near the tear duct after bending over to pick a dropped pen. I went to the bathroom mirror and saw that the corner of my eye was bloodshot. Not the whole eye, just the one side. A burst blood vessel. It made it hard to sleep.

Then the night of the 28th, I had a panic attack on my drive to work. Not the worst I've had, but not fun during a drive.

The morning of the 29th, I went to my local practitioner to get my eye examined because it had grown more bloodshot. Not pink, but full of red veins. Seems, according to my doctor, that the tree pollen, whose levels were exceptionally high during that day and the days around that, had further irritated my eye. I wound up being given some medication for the eye. I also wore an eye patch to work. (I also found out from a nurse that in some cultures, if you see someone with pink eye or anything resembling that, you would get it yourself.)

The night of the 29th, before I was due to go to work, I had two severe panic attacks, one a few minutes after the other. Bad enough that they felt like heart attacks (sans any actual heart attack). Also bad enough that my roommate called 911. (My second attack happened in the presence of the two officers who arrived in response to the 911 call.) I was mostly fine, if not shaken, after the paramedics arrived. I forgot exactly what my blood pressure was. 113 over 80-something. My heart rate was 90-something. (I wasn't very focused, understandably.) I managed to get some sleep that night, which of course mucked with my sleeping pattern.

The morning of the 30th, I managed to drive to the DMV to have my car inspected. It passed, but I didn't on the drive to it. I had another minor attack. I drove back without an attack, though. I'm thankful for that.

Tonight, on the 30th, I had a minor attack on the drive to work, since I woke up too late to call out for anyone to come in. However, once at the hotel, so far so good. I've been downing quite a few valerian root caps, though, to take the edge off.

I don't think I'll be cooking anything with the slow cooker like I usually do on Thursdays. Might just order out for everyone's dinner, instead.

And that's why I haven't been all that active on the 'net lately. Hope everyone else has been faring better! =D

So, what's been up with me lately?

Damn...get better soon man. Take care of yourself anyway you can because these attacks can happen at the most inopportune times. :(

Oh, don't I know they happen at inopportune times! But yeah, my eye's just about back to normal, haha, and I think I'm on the mend overall. Thank ya, I'm doing my best! =)

Yeesh, I hope things get easier for you soon. And things are going well enough here I suppose.

Well enough is good enough! Something like that, yes? And thank you. I seem to be on the mend, at least. For starters, I can walk around in public without my eye patch now, haha! =)

Ouch... talk about a bad series of things at once. Is there anything in particular that you can attribute to triggering the attacks?

    • Link

Not really, no. They don't seen to have any specific trigger. Could be little things that just pile up, but overall? Never a clue. And yeah, those pesky bad series of things at once! We should have those banned! Yeah, that's the ticket! =D

Well... I vote that the first preventative measure we take is to cancel Monday's as a work day, because that's where it all tends to start going wrong. :3

So when you have the attacks, is there anything that works to calm you - particular thoughts, any sort of item/food, music?
