My partner seems to be having some computer issues (looks like an(some) update(s) didn't install correctly and it's causing some obnoxious issues). All scans have come up clean and I'm fairly certain I've figured out what to do, it's just acting a little unexpectedly at times, so it's difficult to tell.
Honestly, I generally can handle stressful situations really well, but any time an error that I don't immediately understand occurs in a computer (whether or not it's mine), I go into absurd sleepless panic mode that typically involves me backing up my computer about 3 times, updating everything and trying to stave off hyperventilation while crying internally for hours. Which is terrible because I'm always legitimately interested in and excited about figuring out and diagnosing these problems myself.
Ironically, the last time we dealt with computer issues, my partner had mentioned how fabulously I seemed to handle stressful situations just as I started learning of a rootkit on my own laptop. Then I kept him up all night while I left scans to run so he could keep me from freaking out any worse than I already was and he was just "lolnvm :I"
That and crowds. I don't fair well interacting with crowds.
On another note, Netflix is streaming House now and I rewatched/actually finished the series. It was better than I remember. I also wish I was an actual doctor an knew more about medicine and disease than out of personal interest so I could scoff more at it's inaccuracies ( although, some delightful doctor did for us! ).
SO, SEEN ANY GOOD SHOWS LATELY, GUYS?
I'm the same - something weird starts happening to the computer and I get twitchy. But honestly, it's not a big issue. People getting hurt or sick - now that's a big issue. Cars (or flats) broken into are also a bigger issue. Software you can always reinstall from scratch, hardware you can always replace and we really should work on not getting worked up over it - once something worse comes up you'll see how silly it was. :P
I think for me, it's just exacerbated by how much I rely on my computer; to lose it would be a significant blow to my life. Plus it's a pretty expensive machine with pretty expensive products that I need for my work and, if damaged, would require pretty expensive replacements (thank you, Adobe) which I simply can't afford. I think I saw a Ted talk about stress and fear that I like to reference that said something like: our hypothalamus makes us stressed and anxious for the sake of our survival; it doesn't know the difference between a rampaging mastodon and telling a big secret to people, it just prepares us for the worst.
Give it a week though and it'll be forgotten, lol
Speaking of wanting to know more about medicine, most of my morning was spent dealing with a headache as I comb over a selection of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Rare_diseases

I just saw this pop up the other day. Does it end well (without spoiling)? I have no idea when I stopped watching but it was fairly early on/toward the middle.
Also rootkits. Ugh. /suppresses his college tech support job memories
