What Happens Next...again! by HeliosPhoenix

So there you have it folks, now you know just what happened next!

Since the turnout was so good, I thought that this could be something that I could do some more in place of the usual "filler" pics. Now this doesn't mean I'm going to stop doing those pics altogether, but I was thinking about doing this more, especially considering that the hunted project will be undergoing some significant changes after the launch of the comic which will result in a greater focus on audience participation, so this seems a natural fit.

With that in mind, I'm happy to announce the polling for the second What Happens Next pic is now open!

Here's a couple things to keep in mind:

  • The maximum number of victims will be capped at 4 from hereon out. If only because it's a lot easier for Barkkorn to draw (not to mention less money for me to spend).
  • Each picture is meant to be different than the last one, which means that any species included in the previous pic will be exempt from the voting for the next. In this case the victims for this picture will not be dragons.
  • These pictures will only be done when I have enough money to pay Barkkorn for the picture (ballpark estimate of $30) so these polls will be open until I have the required amount of money. (Reminder that I do take donations!)

Now onto the biggest modification for the preliminary voting.

This time, in addition to selecting species for the victims, you will also be able to select specific characters as victims. These are all characters who have appeared in the hunted project before, will be appearing soon, or who got drafted in to fill out the numbers (which in this case is just about all of the male victims...yeah).

So how does this work. Well it works like this:

When you click on the poll, you will be given the option to vote for both generic species for the victims as well as specific characters for victims. You can vote for both but it is not required, you can simply vote for one or the other. In the interest of variety you will be able to vote for multiple species and characters.

When the poll closes (whenever that is), the top results from both the species polling and character pollings will be tallied. From this combined pool the most voted results will be chosen in accordance with the number of victims (and female to male ratio) selected. What this means is that if there's a certain number of characters that got more votes than the highest voted result in the species poll, those characters will be chosen as the victims. Conversely if a species is selected, then the character of that species with the highest number of votes will be selected to represent that species. If no character fits the mold I'll either find someone who does or, if all else fails, just make one up.

Confused? Then take a look at these hypothetical results under this system.

4 victims (3 male 1 female)

Top 4 Species votes:
Gryphons: 8
Canines: 7
Sharks: 4
Felines: 3

Top 4 Male Victims votes:
Helios: 24
Fox: 17
Caroo: 6
Zack: 5

Top 4 Female Victims:
Aurora: 16
Sassy: 7
Firebird: 5
Blaze: 4

Top 4 total results:
Helios
Fox
Aurora
Gryphon character.

Make sense? Yes? Good.

One more thing, since I obviously can't cover every person out there who needs a good tickling, you'll also be able to submit your own species and OC's for consideration. If I like the idea enough I just may think about putting them in if there's a species choice that is either low scoring or doesn't have any applicable characters. In the interest of fairness however I will ask that you do NOT submit your own OC's, and make sure you have the permission of anyone who's OC's you do submit. And again we're giving our dragon friends a break this time so I won't be considering them either.

That just covers about everything. So get out there and rock (or rather laugh) the vote!
