I'm sorry for your loss, but glad you and your brother have your lives. I'm the survivor of having my entire house burnt down in the middle of the night, taking everything with it including about 95% of my family history and memories, so I can empathize deeply. I can't rationalize losing your cat, but for the rest of the stuff.. you eventually just rationalize that they're things, and things will come and go. Let me know if you need someone to talk to.
