Uhhhn shitty weekend.. by Thaily

Sorry about all the griping, just had a really shitty weekend =_=

After the health issues with my budgie Rana (whom is currently on painkillers and doing okay, but fingers crossed, she's a little skinnier than before) our plans for our exam exhibition fell through, after a month+ of planning =_=
I'm supposed to graduate art school this year, two months from now, and part thereof is exhibiting our work. We were at the stage of printing flyers/posters/invitations and buying snacks/drinks for the opening early next month when the gallery owner got back to our spokesperson that there was artwork being stolen from the gallery?!

From what information I have, people are just taking art off the wall!
Two pieces had been found relocated to other people's places of work/business and one has gone missing entirely!

She claims other business owners are after her space and that they're responsible for a portion of missing pieces, but that she can't be there all day every day. Despite the fact the gallery part is preceded by a shop that has at least 1 attendant at any given time and you have you have to pass through it to enter/leave. And despite the fact that this woman DOES charge a fee to display work and wants a 40% commission if you sell via her gallery which isn't outlandish for a regular gallery, but she runs a temporary gallery. Other galleries have a database of customers, they organize openings and go to events and actively promote your work, they do matting/framing, they're insured etc. and that's what they charge a 40%/50% commission for. But she doesn't do any of these things.

Kind of makes me wonder if she isn't selling work "via the backdoor" as it were and claiming they were stolen while she takes all the cash. But she's being very evasive about our questions right now, so we're going to have to start from scratch again. Which is hell on iceskates for me, because uuuugn group projects..

I contacted the company that rents my studio to me, as they have a unit above mine which is unoccupied, and asked if we could just use it for a day. If they can't help us I might just do a solo exhibit at my studio, because I can't go through another group project at such a stressful time =_=

Uhhhn shitty weekend..
