Woke up and got dressed to go do fun stuff, then at the moment we were about to leave I noticed my female budgie Rana was out of her nest box and on a perch. She's been laying eggs and nestling for a while now, to no avail because she's probably too old to lay fertile eggs. I noticed she was looking a little rough, then noticed SHE HAD A FUCKING PROLAPSE! I was freaking out!

She apparently tried to lay an egg, and now it was hanging out instead and the side had ruptured with feces coming out. I immediately called the vet on emergency duty and told her we were coming, despite her protestations that she was booked. We arranged transport and got her to the vet in under an hour. Rana was still alert, thankfully, and the vet managed to get the egg out and put everything else back in. Rana has pooped since, so hopefully everything will -stay- in, though if she needs to lay another egg it might happen again.

So she's in sickbay now, with her boyfriend hovering around, and I'm sitting next to the cage telling her to stop touching her butt because of how much we spent on it. Most expensive cloaca in the house :/
