Ooops commission changes again by Hyprole

(copied from my FA)

It's crunch time at uni and I highly doubt I'll be getting any more commissions done for a while. I might reopen them again at the end of the month - but nothing will be started until after the 5th May.

Another thing is... I'll be revising my TOS and putting my prices up by a huge amount soon (and also charging in GBP in the future). I realise high prices will be extremely off putting to people looking to buy personal character art on sites like this and that it's a totally different market to ...say putting artwork in a little gallery and hoping someone buys a £400 painting of a random farm animal in a frame.

Basically I hope that my main income in the future would come from freelancing for animation studios but I'd be wary of sharing links to my sketchblog on tumblr in case they traced the name back and found the current prices I'm offering. I'm concerned that they see these prices and think they can underpay me or that I don't see myself as a professional/etc. And I don't want to avoid linking to my work for that reason.

I can't really guess what prices I'll be setting in the future - and I won't know properly until I've spoken to my lecturers and other people who have experience with finding work at studios and what pay they suggest aiming for. I've been looking at some rates for animators and at first glance the price is staggeringly high (I've seen figures that suggest $250-500 per second of animation), but then when I break down the work involved in my head it probably amounts to less than £10 a frame (in the UK the minimum wage is £6.31 and considering that animation work is going to be sporadic and an extremely unreliable source of income it's no wonder it's so expensive.)

As for sketches and stuff I am very clueless at the moment. All I can say is although I'll be significantly increasing my prices and changing to my current native currency - GB pounds - I'll probably announce cheaper offers at times while I'm hunting for work, and/or provide a cheaper option where the commissioner pays for the length of time I work. Sorta like the pay what you want doodle I have going now.

TL;dr - I just want my watchers to know why there will be such a huge bump in my prices. And that reason is to do with how I might appear to studios while looking for freelance jobs.

also any commissioners in my current queue will be unaffected by the changes I'm mentioning.
