DANG. First off, I'm sorry for being so silent! Weasyl hasn't stuck in to my daily habits yet, which I need to work on. If you're ever curious what I'm up to or doing, checking my tumblr is a much better way to know what's going on in my personal life. For a summary: My anxiety got really bad, spring cleaning happened, I fucked up my back doing said cleaning, and was kind of forced in to a break which turned in to me isolating myself but also working on a lot of self care.
I'm back now, and MONDAY marks the start of a brand new work week! Allow me to please break down the way of things. Work hours are resuming 12pm to 7pm Mon-Fri!
I will be opening for a commission every day for the next several weeks! If you have not seen it, this is my art blog! These sketches are at a bit of a discount to help fund my upcoming SUMMER HERPING TRIP BONANZA!!! For those of you who don't know, that's basically traveling to go out in to undeveloped areas and find reptiles in their natural habitat to photograph, observe, appreciate and leave in peace. One $15 color sketch a day, $20 for two characters. These will be worked on alongside my current queue, as well as doing them on weekends, and it will be the sketch I start my day with! This will last until June, exact date depends on how many characters I draw!
Already on the list? I will be doing the daily sketch commission, then working on commissions from my list all warmed up. The majority of my time will be spent on them - I've only set aside an hour at the end to work on my personal projects, and my portfolio work is off the clock. I haven't forgotten you. I know I'm a frustrating wait, but we're off again and I will do my best for you! These have been a very hard few years for me since moving to Texas recovering from abuse and learning to deal with my mental health, but everything is changing this summer and I've been surprisingly stable. I apologize for the wait and thank many of you for your love and patience!
Some of you may know about my commercial plush project. Plush have been slow going. The main plush designer for the company I am going through had a career change, so my project had a change of leads! This has slowed things down. It’s also been found that because of the embroidery needed, the estimates were off. I owed a little more out of pocket that I had to make before we could continue. For those of you who've been asking, I will not be sharing any prototype photos until they are a reasonable semblance of the final product! I don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea on what the final product will be.
Acrylic reptile charms are also something I have discussed and people have shown great interest in. Art for these are on the schedule for my closing hours of the day, so I will be opening pre-orders soon! These will be reptiles! Western Hognoses, Ball Pythons, and Crested Geckos are all on the immediate table, but there are likely to be a few more fantastical things too.
I am also going to be trying to do a single reptile anthro pin-up every week day, and if I succeed, that’ll add up to 60+ of them, which I’ll release in a downloadable portfolio! This will probably be a pay-what-you-want release, or very cheap. These will be nude or adult in nature, and may include some other species, but will be bulk reptiles in subject.
That is pretty much it! I’m trying to hit the ground running once again, and I will do my best!! I’m sorry I’ve been in and out with my self care. Things have been rough, but this summer is the light at the end of the tunnel. Gosh I have big projects for going in to 2015! Can’t wait for next year, even though it feels like 2014 just started.
If you would like a sketch slot, please let me know! I would be happy to maintain a list of interest instead of fishing for first come, first serve every day. I will not be taking payment in advance for future dates, but I WILL take payment for a sketch either the day before or day of depending on your availability.
Who wants to be first tomorrow?
You're the second person on the list if you want on! This would put you down for Tuesday (I thought today was Monday. Oops.) If you're interested, let me know if you'd prefer to pay day before (monday) or day of (tuesday)
Tuesday would be better for me to pay, also wondering since it is April Fools that day that the sketch could be appropriately themed for such? :3
Alright! Wednesday! :D
I can pay today, if you want! :)
Can I send you the references in a note, soon? :P
Hey, long time ^.=.^, things have been good I hope? and yeah ill also be interested in one of these as well.
I'm interested in a sketch slot, but I need a little time to decide on what I want :X Is the 7th still open?
HECK YES you are welcome to a slot! It's gonna be a bit over a week (mid next week I guess?) tryin not to give specific dates since someone is deciding how many days they want but if that's ok you're in! Send me infos whever you please, no pressure to do it any time soon, I'll be back to remind you when it's closer to your day
I really do want to snag something... I think I will actually, whenever the next one is open.
Any word on my previous sketch? Was the picture just not something you wanted to do? Was it just that terrible or have I just been a terrible person to work with? The last couple of notes I sent a while back went unreplied to, and you didn't reply to my comment farther up.
If I've been that bad then I won't bother you anymore and you can consider that sketch finished (I was hoping to use it as reference for commissions I scheduled a month later... Just had the artists wing it at that point). I'm sorry for the trouble.
You haven't been a terrible person to work with! I still have it and will still finish it. I'm sorry, I've just been all over the place and I get a lot of notes, some for fairly ridiculous but very stressful and distracting reasons (a lot of HELP ME SKINK MY REPTILE IS DYING AND I REFUSE TO GO TO THE VET and DO YOU TAKE REQUESTS??? WHY NOT YOU ARE HORRIBLE goes on in there.) I apologize, my anxiety gets the better of me. Your earlier comment was more "I don't know what to say right now, I'll come back to it when I've thought about it. FORGETS ENTIRELY"
I am only doing one sketch a day, then working on other commissions. Since I'm worrying you, I promise to work on yours today :) It's half done as is, so I should be able to wrap it up.
The next open date is as far as 04/22. If you're really interested, I'm reserving that slot for you, but you are welcome to cancel it!
Okay thanks, I always worry about coming off the wrong way lol. I'll admit that when I think about reptiles/possibly have reptile questions I'll think about you (then think "oh hey I could just google that"). And yea, I'm forgetful too lol I understand (can be quite frustrating, as I'm certain you know all about).
Okay, if you don't mind finishing it up that'd be awesome! <3
I think I am interested! I'll snag it and send you a note later! :3
I totally don't mind answering questions but people will often come to me thinking they're doing great when they're actually blatantly abusing their animal and wanting a quick fix when it finally starts to die. Usually if I actually answer their question they get IMMENSELY PISSED like NO IT IS NOT MY FAULT, my snake is actually dying of a CURSE, now please whip me up a cure potion chop chop etc and it's just. groan.
like seriously it was once "what can I get at walmart to make my snake better is there anything?" and it's like nah friend you gotta get them to the vet or they're gonna die and three days later "well they died thanks for nothing" like HOLY SHIT.
Ugh D:. Just... Fuck. People don't realize that they're managing the entire existence of a living thing.
I really want to get a reptile eventually, though both my job would make it difficult and I don't think I'm responsible enough to look after something's entire existence.
Generally I recommend snakes as good "busy" pets. While they do need some amount of maintenance each day, they're very easy, and if one wants to spend the money on automating parts can be even easier. Cleaning poop and feeding only once a week, and just making sure their heat is proper and their water is fresh once or twice a day, and they're golden. So long as you get a well established individual who isn't sick, snakes are easy compared to pretty much any other pet... their set up cost and the learning curve for humidity/temperature is pretty much the biggest thing for first time owners!
Awesome,thanks for the information! <3
That sounds awesome... But my job. It's a 10 days in a camp in a row/4 days home job, can't have pets in the camp, and I don't have my own place outside of it (aside from my parents places, whom don't want anything like this around). ;( Pays really well though so maybe after the summer!
Speaking of animals, I'm going to have to do the finishing bit on your sketch tomorrow. I lost some unexpected time to Tornado Warnings today. The sky was looking really bad, so I had to move every cage on wheels and cover anything that isn't. When you've got 50+ pets, it's time consuming! My apologies. I'll put it before the daily sketch tomorrow, though, since it doesn't need much more :) for now I need to go to bed, I'm way too tired to be clackin around just nervous of the weather yet heh
truth. snakes are the ultimate vacation animals! If they're an easy species, you can set them up with fresh water on an automated thermostat and leave them for a week at a time, but two weeks is too long unless you could have someone come check on 'em without fail. still good money > pets you can get some other time any day!
