A letter to HP by Ryngs

Dear Hewlett Packard,

For years I have used your Printers, and my first computer was mostly HP components. A few years ago I purchased a D1660 Inkjet, seeing as I am a freelance artist and illustrator its was all I could afford at the time. It was the third HP Inkjet I have owned, the previous 2 were solid and dependable, but either you stopped making cartridges for them or software was no longer supported. This last acquisition was less then stellar... The software kept crashing and I would have to manually reset them my computer administrative tools. Additionally, recently the amount of ink in the cartridge have been visibly reduced. At one time I would pay $35.00 for a pair of cartridges that would last 3-4 months, the last pair I purchased for $40.00 lasted 3 weeks (with no change in my printing habits). Today, your printer failed me for the last time, and so has your company... The printer softwear crashed again, but this time when I reset it the printer started turning off and back on by it self, when I moved the printer to open the top (where you insert the cartridge to see if something may have jammed, I was given a mild electrical shock, and the printer no longer worked. The light was on but the printer was unresponsive. Unfortunately, I do not have the money to purchase a new printer of any sort at this time.
I apologize to you HP for not being filthy stinking rich, and being a poor artist just barely getting by...

And here is what I think of your crappy merchandise: http://stickypawz.timduru.org/Misc/HPHate.jpg

I hope I was the last of your loyal customers, because I will no long be buying anything you produce... Thank you for all the frustration, unhappiness, and wasted paper of the last 4 years.

Good Day and may bankruptcy not save you,
Ryngs

I hear that. I left HP years ago. Went to Kodak, ended up spending 3 years riping them a new asshole for replacement headers cause theirs kept breaking. HP and Kodak sucked. Then I went to Epson. It was expensive but worth it for me... i think... Damn cartridges are expensive. But its a dependable and good printer. Epson Artisan 837

You are the third person to say Epson to me. I will look into them sense my scanner is a Epson, and its been good. Thanks.

I would be the fourth to say Epson. I had a smaller Epson that I used from 2004ish-2008 and it was awesome. I only bought a new one because I wanted to make larger prints. So I bought the larger size (R1900) and it is still working fine for me. The older one I "gifted" to my work and it got even more abuse and kept trucking until last year when the feeder spring broke. Individual cartridges are awesome for ink replacement (though still annoying when the cyan is out and all you want to do is print a black and white text sheet!)

Thatnk you, and your suggestion is noted, and actually now your the 5th to suggest Epson. Grin

yeah.... HP is cheaper initially but the hassle you get with them can be retarded. Especially because they like to use "recycled parts" (aka: leftover parts from broken devices that have been sent back to them) and there software behaves like bloatware. I'm on my second HP laptop because the used fan failed and it quite literally caught on fire... not fun. I've also gone through 2 HP printers.
As far as other brands go, for printers I've had a lot of luck with Brothers. They are usually reasonably priced and last a really long time. I own 2 atm, one of which is a lazer printer I've had for 6 years. Epson is also a decent brand. 9w9

Thanks and noted. I am eye balling a Epson but its going to be a few weeks before I can get one. Sadly, I am poor. Sigh
