If I get nothing else done in the way of personal projects while I'm on spring break, I plan to get "Escape from St. Arned done and dusted.

Tonight, I took the improved newer version and edited back in the adult scenes, but I noticed that the scenes really lacked something. I not only extended and expanded them, but I added more depth, detail, and literary refinement than I think I've ever added to erotic material in my entire life.

At any rate, I wanted to make sure that if there was explicit sex in "St. Arned" that it was going to be written as well as it could be and not a distraction from the plot. There are four or five scenes in this one, and they do get rather steamy, but the characters' emotions, motivations, and thoughts are central to the scenes and often, they turn out rather bittersweet as mixed emotions, broken hearts, and uncertain futures clash with raging hormones.

I also address a lot of issues from the first book, like the potential snags of polyamorous relationships, Laz's cavalier attitude toward sex and Vinz's dalliances with another character. In fact, you could say the entire theme of the book is that everything has consequences and that all the things the characters thought they would never have to reckon with again come back at them, full force. It's probably the most mature thing I've ever written and I'm really anxious to see it out at RainFurrest this year.

I'll be going over the whole text again, looking for typos, continuity errors, and stylistic tweaks, then I hope to have it off to Fuzz and Teiran before Thursday. From there, it'll just be a matter of getting the cover art taken care of.
