Fur the More by Tantroo

So this up coming weekend I plan on going to the second annual FTM convention being held in Baltimore. The last con I went to was last years in April. I don't get out much, though I've found this particular con to my liking my one time there that was not there in the larger conventions I had attended. No doubt it'll be bigger this year, and seeing as it was around 700 last time, maybe I really don't have experience with real small cons. Que the old man with a monkey suit and cane that says "Back in my day, a convention was 200 people, and we were dang happy with what we got too.

But no matter the size I'll be more likely to focus on my small group of friends and family like I always do. I'll be rooming with my sister and Arcadia, so I'll be sure there is no crazy room shannangins. Though I've never really had that trouble with cons. As they say, good fences make good neighbors, so if I can't find anyone I know well enough to room with, I'll typically get my own. Thankfully others have made mistakes other than me which I can read and hear the stories of, it is through other's mistakes that one can learn themselves without pain.

My sister plans on running her own table at the Artist Alley to give it a try this year, so be sure to check out her table and order something if you wish.

Arcadia of course will be running the Artist Alley herself as a staff member, though I'm sure she and I will hang out and talk quite a bit during the times she gets to herself.

As far as myself? I find myself a bit freer than most, mostly because I try not to attach myself to obligations, despite my work ethic. When I obligate myself to something I don't half-ass it, but it takes me a good deal of time to obligate to something. Of course as a writer I focus on the writing panels as a high priority, and thankfully Fur the More has those in spades. In fact it seems to be the most diverse and full of recognizable names.

I will be looking over the Flash Fiction Rules, depending on if my brain is willing to cooperate/I have enough time with the other things going on this weekend I'll submit an entry as I did last year. Though since I haven't been doing much of my own writing this year it may not happen.

I may go to the intermediate and certainly will go to the advanced writing panels. May or may not go to the technologies and formatting since that may be important if I plan on self publishing, though my guess it may be for getting it into a 'an editor won't puke at it' format. The getting published panel I will forgo this year more than likely forego this year since-- well I don't know if I mentioned but I'm having a short story that's going to be published in an upcoming anthology. I know the person who is compiling this anthology will be attending some of the writing panels as well, so I'll get to thank him in person.

However, this year I'll have a secondary focus on a new segment of the fandom I will be jumping into. My fursuit should be finished in time for the convention. Of course, it'll be a crash course in wearing one, and what a crash course it'll be. I plan on at least attending the parade. Other things I'll be doing in that regard, Fursuit Maintenance is a must panel, now that I have a suit I'll need to learn to maintain it. May go to the Character dev and Improv in suit panel.

Other events I plan to attend, I was invited to the formal dance by Arcadia and I plan on going. It's almost a requirement given my character will be in a suit, so I'll have one of those. Probably won't wear the suit during the dance, I think moving around in it will be enough of a learning curve for the first time in one. But I'll probably have a good feeling if I'd be able to manage at that point.

So that's the run down, see ya at the con.

There is also a fursuit-friendly dance separate from the formal. If you are feeling brave, we could try that! It will be my first time in a partial!

So you got yours done too? Cool!

I hope so, but it will be done on Thursday. It may have problems and I don't have a chance to practice in it, so I may not get a chance to wear it at all for the con.
        We'll see.

Hilariously I'll be a virgin suit-er as well, so guess we'll need to be careful not to trip one another up XD
